4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

So what does your wheel well height sit at after this?
Im glad to hear it rides smoother as well

So nif you need more why not a 2.5 spacer?
You get double the thickness of the spacer in lift, so a 1.5" gives you 3". The 2.5" spacers are actually half that, they give you 2.5" total. So my 3" is taller. I'm at max spacer lift without a dif drop too. My cv axles are right at the point of binding right now.
Front is 41" from the ground, rear is 43". That's with the 35's. I have full measurements and pics on my build page too.

w/Stock front coils?

I just ordered a set of Maxtrac 4" lift spindles to saee how the ride is going to be with FJ 4x4 coils, setting 5100's at 0 and no spacer . alowwing the 5100's to do there thing with no comprerssion on either coil/strut.
wait thinking about it do I need a different strut with a bigger spindle and the lift from it? mmmm..

Lift spindles for 2wd move the hub down giving you lift. You retain all other factory hardware, or whatever you want to run.
Yes, I have stock coils. But I have 3" lift in front along with a 2.5" body lift and 35's. With everything together I'm 8" taller.

Ok so I was thinking correctly originally I started second guessing as I was typing got me thinking different.

Awww... 2.5 BL I thought you only had a 1" BL on 3" lift ..I was like 35's damn
lol

I plan on getting the 6" dB, then possibly losing or using a smaller body lift.

Going beast status I see...that's the 6" FJ lift couple guys are using I believe. Wait a DB?
Nah not a drop bracket lift? Serious?
Yup, only thing besides a SAS that you can get that much lift. Nothing wrong with a dB. They are solid, those FJ guys are driving the hell out of those kits with no issue's. Every ford, chevy and Dodge is running them too. Rough country lift is completely bolt on too! No cutting required. Then I'll side some 37's on. [emoji6]

So its not permanant like back in the day once its done its done?
But besides that nah nothing really wrong with them I think personally and were very popular back in the day. The only other thing is tight trails and quarters get a lil tricky but thats a small percent of trails.

Most people consider DB's permanantly ruined vehicles and stuck on pavement lifts and people that do them are all about looks and having big ass truck with lil man syndrome.

The fabtech kit is permanent. You have to cut the cross member out.
I'm 6'4", 300 lbs, no small man complex. lol. Definitely see some nap crawlers, but if you go to the FJ forum there's plenty of guys abusing the hell out of them. Rock crawling, jumping, all sorts of situations.
Eventually I'll sas though. Stronger components and all.

I like your style man you straight DGAF...
And I would definitely agree no small man complex for t-man...

That's the kit that turns the Bilsteins into coilovers. Same shocks, just has an adjustable collar instead of the 4 slots.

If your going to get Bilsteins get them from Down South motorsports.

Thanks man! So no material difference once I pick whatever springs and the shop puts them on? Because the springs get mounted onto the front shock like a coilover anyway, right?

They mount like a strut. Coil goes around the shock body, sits on a perch and has a top hat that holds it all together. The bottom perch can be set at 4 different locations: 0", .85", 1.75" and 2.5" of lift. If you get aftermarket coils and they are lift coils then you will get the lift of the coil plus whatever setting you put the Bilsteins perch on. Remember not to go above 3" of lift unless you have after market uca's and a dif drop.
Any shop should have zero issues installing these. Very easy to do. Also, I would buy new top hats for the assembly. They are cheap, and if they wear out they will destroy your shocks and other parts with a quickness. I believe mine were like $35 from Amazon.

Ah man...amazing advice. Thank you very much. Of all the reading I've done on T4R in the last couple months(a LOT), I 100% have never put together that I would get the coil lift PLUS the Bilstein setting. Definitely want to stay just below 3". My man.

Yes that ones important! What kind of coils are you thinking of going with?
