4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

Fitting 33s with spacers

Great info! I just wanted to know what I’d need to do to fit 33s if I’m gonna have the 3” toytec bilstien 5100 lift and wanted an offset of 2”, I’m wanting to go with 20” wheels as well and just don’t know how to make sense of all the sizes, thanks in advance

OME application guide on the US ARB web site for what low, med and heavy weight options there are for the 4th gen. OME struts and shocks are valved for OME springs in that they too assume additional weight beyond the weight of the truck like rons arb bumper. Id recommend the wheeler t1-t12 or t13 or the various dobinson coils if youre pairing um with 5100s since the spring rates are more in line with the valving of the 5100s. Depending on the truck once you get into the 2.5" +lift range your could be looking at UCAs as well. good luck
Isn't that wrong since the ome spring rate is almost the same as stock? The rear ome are alot higher spring rate.

Hello From Georgia (EU) !
I just bought 2003 4runner 4.0 SR5. Can you suggest me how to lift it?
I want suspension lift, as I understand Bilstein 5100 are good option with front OME 884 and OME 895 and some wheel spacers (1'-1.5' inch). Can you help me?
also I can have FJ 2007 springs
I need to buy everything in USA then Ship in georgia and pay huge tax and shipping. How good FJ springs are? Do I need to modificate other things?
thank you

Hello to Georgia! I have the 5100s and the fj springs and they work great. No need to modify. No need for ome or spacers. The fj springs will give a little bit of lift (maybe an inch) and will make the ride more firm. I love mine.

What gives ?!?! 4 Wheel Parts and CarID both list the ARB 2895 rear springs as not compatible with my 2004 Sport?!?...

There's a 4 Wheel Parts local to me is why I was on the website to check stock but was miffed when it said the 2895 didn't fit my application...
I'm not against Toytec but OME price is right and beating able to pick up local is a huge bonus !

New kid on the block

Hey guys, I've been doing a ton of research and finally decided to join :couch2:

I'm really just looking for confirmation that I can do bilstein 5100's all around set at 1.75 in the front (stock springs) with 1.25" spidertrax spacers in order to fit 255/75r17?

I'm in an 04 Limited V8, no xreas!

I'm excited to get started with my mods!!

2007 Suspension options

Hey guys,

Long time no post... life got in the way of vehicle modifications :-)

I'm still running my 2007 SR5 4x4 V8. Shrockworks front bumper, Warn winch. Completely stock otherwise. Running the front bumper for the past 5 years has killed my front suspension, hitting the bump stops with bumps at highway speeds. Time for an upgrade!

Looking at the following for a mild lift and smooth out my ride. This is still my daily driver, so need to keep highway behavior into account. Are these choices reasonable? What other items do I need to consider when doing the installation, and subsequent lift (in other words, what else should I anticipate breaking?)

2007 4Runner XREAS Replacement

Hey guys,

I have 156k on my original XREAS suspension now and I'm looking at replacements. I'm leaning towards the Bilstein 5100's all around.

My question is should I pair these with FJ Coils or keep my original coils? Not sure of how much of a difference the FJ Coils make.

The 5100s are adjustable in the front. If you plan to set these on a higher perch and lift the front you will need to do something to the rear to level the truck. I believe the FJ rear coils give you like .5-1"? Not 100% sure but I know they do give you some lift.

I recently fitted 5100s, would highly recommend them. They tighten up the handling nicely. There is a thread on the FJ coils stickyed on the form, I think a lot of guys here recommend them and they give some lift. I have Wheelers offroad T1 (front) and T12 (rear). These give a decent lift and also help to tighten up the handling, have them on my truck. Others on the forum use OME coils if you are going offroad these are apparently a good option. What will you be using the truck for mostly?

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. It seems like I'll be going this route as I'm not looking for a lift that is too high but definitely noticeable.

Okay sounds good, the on road handling was my main concern as it leans quite a bit through turns and can feel a little wobbly when taking certain bumps at higher rates of speed. This truck will be on road driven 95% of the time.

My experience so far is mostly on the road and the coil/shocks combination I mentioned above works great to tighten up the handling. The 4Runner will never be a sports coupe but it makes a noticeable difference. I notice it on the highway, the car bounces less and is far less 'flotaty' over bumps if that makes sense. For serious offroading others on the site will recommend other shocks but for your use I'd say 5100s would be a good call. Also, while you're at it update or upgrade the coils since you'll be taking apart the suspension anyway. Have a read on here about the FJ, Wheelers or Toytech coils people recommend.

So I finally got rid of my XREAS/RAS over the weekend and went OME 885 front and Superflex rear with OME all around - My question is this is how it looks currently:

2ci6yon.jpg

that's almost as bad as factory rake before I had done my daystar, now it's almost back to that!

The rear setup was used. Superflex + 60002. I added a daystar 1.5" on the driver side to correct lean -

Is this supposed to be normal? From what I've read the superflex does settle, but it's been about 2 days + 300KM and it looks almost the same. Any suggestions? It's supposed to yield 3/2 with this setup (I have a V8)

Those with Bilstein 5100's and aftermarket springs..

Have you used the 2.5" on the 5100's with aftermarket springs? Got some pics? Besides UCA's, what else did you do?

I currently have Moog FJC springs all around + a Daystar rear spacer, and been thinking about bumping the Bilstein's from 1.75 to 2.5".

Is there an agreed-upon front lift height that will have minimal impacts on CV joints? I’ve got a Daystar level 2” kit now, but on old saggy springs and dead XREAS, and id like some more lift. My Cv are exactly level right now.
I’m getting new suspension soon and am trying to decide between 2” and 2.5” but I do t want to mess with CV more than I have to.

I'm running a 255/75R17 Goodyear Duratrac on my '04 Limited V8, all I did was add a Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer kit to my XREAS. I'm no expert but in terms of fitment, you should be good to run that tire size with or without the Spidertrax.

Hopefully this helps! :thumb3:

Looks like i will need to do a body mount chop on both sides.. Can I use a dremel for this or do I need to find/buy a bigger cutter? Also can I leave the body mount exposed or do I need to buy/make a plate to put over it?
