Currently if you're looking at lifting your 4runner you have only the spacer technology option.
Revtek and Daystar are the only mfg's making them currently and selling them on the shelves to stores.
Downey will have their coilover kit out shortly (March timeframe). SAW is also working on theirs but no work yet as I haven't hear from them in awhile.

Hey Goodtimes,
How big will that Downey coilover lift be? I want to lift my 4R to fit at least 35's. Anything out there? I know the FJ has a 5 or 6 inch lift. Arent the 4R and FJ the same chassis?
Also I have been thinking about trading in my v6 for a v8 4R, anyone have anything to say? Is it that big of a difference? I like my v6 (strong, good on gas), but wondering if I am missing out on more with the v8?

Hayn, You should stop those guys driving around in the lifted 3rd gen 4runners. I see quite a few of them on H1 every morning (coming from the west side)...if you live on Oahu?
Maybe they can tell you what kits they used to get that 6" of lift...then you can apply the same logic to your 4th gen. I'm thinking you can use the FJ's ProComp kit on the 4th gen (for the front), then get some custom springs for the rear.
DH also does some pretty radical lifts...(some of them a little too crazy IMO, but he might have some suggestions).
I called 4wheelparts and they had no idea.

if you want to fit 35's you'll need to ditch your xreas system (which comes standard w/ the Sports Edition).
you'll need to do some heavy surgery to make it fit but it can be done. I've had 35's for a number of years but my truck is far from stock. I have seen other 4th gens with 35's work so it definitely can be done.. just lots of cutting.
minimum:
3" lift
1.5" body lift
cutting up the front body mount below the firewall
trimming front bumper
replacing upper control arms (front) with aftermarket upper control arms
trimming rear bumper
requires aftermarket wheels (factory wheels are too narrow)
