4th Gens in the snow

I know the idea of the raised wipers is to prevent them from getting frozen down, but wouldn't leaving them like that unnecessarily over-stress or damage the spring?

springs are relatively cheap for the amount of frustration avoided

Not yet. Turns out there is a "limp mode" and it cuts power to prevent damage to the engine. So apparently there is something wrong that it was saving itself from. I'm still in Bend and will be until the 3rd so I won't be able to look at it until then.

That sucks, I'd offer to take a look at it; but I'm actually in the Bay Area (CA) for the week with family instead of Bend.

What I woke up too!

In one evening/day we received 37cm of snow. For our American counter parts that's around 15 inches. Snowblowing my driveway is not what I wanted to do on Boxing Day.

I would bet money it's on the secondary air injection system. Check out the thread by @slyfox for a relay bypass.

Before I left for the Bay Area, around Thursday/Friday we had 3 or more vehicles come in that had gotten gas from Chevrons in the Redmond/Bend area and all of them were tow-in, no-starts due to bad fuel (honestly smelled like it might have been really high ethanol content.)

Did you guys top off the tank at a Chevron?

My 3rd gen did well in snow the few times we got any. But we just picked up our '06 just last month so looking forward to some snow to test it out. But snow events are too few here in NC.

I bought my 05 Runner after driving my neighbors 3rd gen in the NC snow back in January....I've been waiting for the snow to arrive again, although I fear it could be a long wait

Sounded like Chevron had a 50/50 water gas mix...State: Bad fuel no longer sold at Redmond Chevron - KTVZ
