4WD issues.

So, I bought a 4runner 2 weeks ago and ever since i bought it the 4WD doesn't always engage. Put it in 4H and the light on the dash comes on, put it on 4L and I can feel it engage and when you drive it you know it's in 4L but the light on the dash doesn't come on. Put on the locker and sometimes it engages but the light on the dash never comes on. 4H always engages but 4L and the locker are periodic at best. What could the issue be? I'm going crazy with this issue. Also the traction control light comes on in 4H periodically and from what I know it's only supposed to come on when the locker is engaged. Please help.

Check for an oil drip under your truck. Sometimes the seal between the actuator and t-case will cause some of the fluid to get in the actuator and eventually ruining it.. If you do find a drip it will be very miniscule , but if it's there also check the oil level in your t-case because if it gets too low, you will end up with both the t-case and actuator breaking.. and it's a very expensive fix. Hopefully this isn't it but if it is, you might catch it before any real damage occurs..

Look in the circled area for signs of oil or build up.. This is an actual pic of my replacement t-case and actuator after mine grenaded on me..

replacement after going back on.. last bolts on shield still not tightened up..
