4wd issues?

Hello, i have a 08 v6 sr5, 4wd has worked fine, i use it often and i cycle 4lo about twice a month, but recently it has been acting up, when i start the car up the 4wd and dif lock lights blink and i can hear the 4wd computer clicking like crazy and some beeping outside of car, after a while of driving it turns off and is fine. But i am now also having issues with the 4wd, i go to put it into 4hi and itll go but its super delayed and twice i heard it grind before it locked. I jacked the truck up and put it in drive, when in 2wd only the rear wheels spin, when i put it in 4hi, the front drive shaft spins but the front tires do not right away, so i figured it might be the front differential actuator and i changed it, but it is still having the same issue, front drive shaft spins but the front tires wont and the beeping is still there, i am aware that the transfer case actuators are a known issue with the 4runners, but it activates the front drive shaft when i put it in 4wd..could it be my ecu?

how did you replace the actuator???not for sure but from reading other post, i remember somebody mentioning theirs clips in there that need to come out before actuator comes out or could damage it. and i remember seeing something about having to align the rods before putting it back in.

it usually takes a second or two for the 4wd to kick in, on mine, i hear and feel the whole process. i put it in nuetral, switch to 4wd, i hear movement down below and a clunk confirms im in 4wd.
Now the only time that i've had grinding was when i went to switch to 4lo, i jump the gun and went to use right away, made a loud grinding noise that scared the crap out of me. but redid the process waiting and sure enough it engaged.

i'm noticing more and more 4runners in my area, have a couple people on the facebook page that are around me as well. so if you see a little spanish lady that could barely see over the wheel in a silver with black TRD, thats my mother driving it around. she swears its her car.

i replaced the one in the front differential, you dont need to take down the transfer case for it, just 4 bolts, a plug and the hose, it has a little fork in it that moves from left to right to lock the front wheels into 4wd

the manual doesn't say anything specific either, i just looked, just take off the bolts and remove it. so weird....
did you buy a crappy chinese brand???

Hey, since you're hearing that 4wd computer clicking a lot and the beeping, it might be a good idea to look into the electronic control unit (ECU). Sometimes, glitches in the ECU can mess with the 4wd system. I'd suggest giving the ECU a good check, maybe get it scanned for any error codes linked to the 4wd system.
