4WD Multi-Mode Question

I have read through the docs I can find but have not been able to fully understand or maybe this question is not answered in the basic write up stuff of the 4WD system.

I have a 1997 Surf with the Multi-Mode 4WD system.
My question is, if I am in H2-H4 (Button Pushed) so center Diff Unlocked is my Front Diff engaged?

Example: If I put a Spartan or other Lunchbox locker in the front would it engage in AWD Mode? or only when in 4HI(L) or 4LO(L)?

the spartan locker would be active in awd, its not really a good setup for the front, you probably want a selectable front locker.

The fronts are a touch more fragile, and respond better to an LSD (i.e. Truetrac) than a full on locker. That's based solely what I've seen on the forums. Also, I have had a Spartan in the rear, and it was ... annoying until I got used to it. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't, but would instead hold out for a Toyota elocker retrofit. Of course this only applies to the rear.
