4WD selector switch light/Rear window light switch replacement

I've searched this forum to try and figure out if the 4WD selector lights up or not. Most say that it doesn't but I've look at the schematics and it clearly shows a bulb in the selector. I was at the Charles Maund dealership and the guy ordered the bulb for the 4WD switch, hmmm. Also, my rear window up/down switch also doesn't light up, after driving home from the dealership I called the parts department to order the bulb for that switch and the guy said that I have to buy the entire switch for $76,hmmm. I can order a bulb for the 4WD selector which some forum members have said doesn't light up but have to replace the entire switch for the rear window switch??? I have a 2005 Sport Edition.

bulb for the rear window is a T3 (T-1, 3mm) bulb. I just replaced it with the following.

i have not replaced the selector bulb yet. i have read mixed reviews, some say it lights up and the correct bulb is a T4, others as you have read say it does not have one?

hope that helps.

I just ordered a bulb for the rear window switch. It cost me about 4-5 bucks at the dealership. The 4WD selector switch lights up as well.

You should be able to order just those two bulbs. If you can't, go to another dealership.

I ordered the bulb for the rear window switch from Round Rock Toyota, the guy I talked to said that the bulb is replaceable.

Yes, the AWD selector knob lights up. I just replaced it (and the rear window and hazard switches) last month.

Both light up and both have replacement bulbs. I recently replaced both on mine and bulbs from the dealer were about $5/each.

how hard was it to replace the selector switch light (4wd switch)? i just replaced the ones in for my ac etc and that was a cake walk the dealership wanted 90 bucks for the replacement....

Pretty easy. Take the AC unit off and the switches should pop out and you can change the bulbs. 4x4 was a little tougher but can do it.

On another note- does anyone know or have a list of all the light bulbs and their sizes?

I need to replace the bulb for my 4wd selector switch. Can someone explain how to get to the bulb or is there a guide available somewhere? I tried searching for one but didn't find anything.

I had a hard time taking off the 4WD selector switch, so I just reached around with my fingers and replaced the bulb without taking the switch out. I have small hands but I also couldn't get the cable to unclip from the switch. It works and lights up now. I'm happy.

I wasn't thinking you could just take off the 4wd selector switch. I am wondering how you get behind it to replace that bulb. Are you able to squeeze your hands behind it when you have the AC control panel removed?

The 4wd switch is a pain in the butt to remove, your better option is to remove the panel that it's mounted to in order to access the bulb, it's a few screws, but well worth the trouble. Use this

I just replaced some bulbs in my 2004 4WD Sport and wanted to add a little info since it's hard to find on line. The rear gate switch and 4WD selector switch are both illuminated on mine. Remove the AC control unit and then the other two can be accessed through the opening. I found it easiest to disconnect the electrical connectors for both first then squeeze the clips on the sides of the rear window switch to pop it out through the opening. The 4WD selector is more difficult since it has 3 clips, one at 6 o'clock and the other two at 10:30 and 1:30. I won't come out unless you get all three. The 4WD bulb is 90010-01084 and the rear window 90010-01088. I took some pictures but can't post them since it looks like they need to be hosted on line.
