4wd shifting somewhat shaky 01 sport

Usually pushing the button on the fly works great but I noticed earlier this winter it wasn't working smoothly and had to pull over. Lately I have to push the accelerator and back of then it clinks in. I've changed the fluid regularly and worry it might not work when needed. When I press the button the light flashes until it eventually goes in. Any input is appreciated.

I had to engage mine a couple nights ago and it took about 20-30 seconds of the lights blinking before it finally kicked in. As long as it engages and stays engaged , I wouldn't worry too much.

Yeah I guess you are right. I did some testing this evening and if i pull over it seems to work the best and easiest so that's what I'll do from no on to be safe unless absolutely necessary. At least I don't have to get out and lock hubs like on my old 22r. Man I miss that truck sometimes.

Ensure the tire pressure in all four tires is equal. This can cause the 4WD to engage/disengage slowly.
