4x2 4runners come through!

I have a 05 sport edition rwd 4runner that i love very dearly. After spending hours upon hours on this website there are many mods that i want to put on her except i dont know if i should, because at the end of the day, its still a rwd.
The mods i want include a lift kit, bigger tires, different rims (after seeing the stealth customs series i want!) but since my car is a rwd, if i ever want to take her off road i would be very limited, so if i dont take her off road, i feel theres no real need for bigger tires/ lift kit.

So i guess my point is, can all the rwd/ 2wd / 4x2 (or however you guys call it) 4runners give me some feedback, tell me your mods, give me your off roading experience, post pictures, etc of your 4x2 4runner!

If you want to get into offroading a lot you should just trade for a 4wd before you get in too deep with mods.

If you're only planning on doing some mild off-roading and want the look then go for it.

Mine is 2wd and has a couple of mods. I often wish it were 4wd, although 2wd does keep me from wanting to try anything too hairy. It's probably best that mine is 2wd since my last truck, a 4wd got pretty ragged out from me thining "yeah it'll go through that...."

This one isn't exactly off-road, but the climb to here was. A guy at the bottom in a 4wd Jeep on 33s turned back while I climbed to the top in my 2wd.

Its not too bad man. It is mostly a camping vehicle and great for riding fs roads to get to camp sites or while out hunting. I have done some mild off roading with it, but being 2wd i have not attempted anything crazy.

I love your 4runner man! I never knew it was 2wd. Still love it and rock on.

Might i talk you into considering the 4x4 conversion. it cost less than lift tires and wheels, and takes about a day (weekend if you are not experienced with CVs and suspension)

I did my 4th gen a couple years back and even buying stuff directly from Toyota and before there were alot of parts sources it cost me under 3K.

I am pretty sure i could do it for about 2 grand now that more are avail in junk yards.

Depends on how far you want to take it. If toy live in AZ an are building a prerunner 2wd is fine. If you are using it to go camping and hunting and some light exploring on fire roads 2wd is also fine. If you wanted to do more it would benefit you to throw in a locker. You woul be surprised how far 2wd locked can get you. A winch invade you get stuck should give you enough to work with. At my local trail network since I've been there so much I drive it as far as I can before I shift into 4wd, just for the challenge. It always amazes me how far I can go. It just made me realize I was in 4wd when I really didn't need to be. I say use what you got to its fullest potential.
