I happen to run across this thread.

Someone did an LS swap in an FJ (120 platform). That is not far from a 5th gen. I did not read the entire thing but it looks like they used the simplified throttle cable version 5.3...

I doubt it is street legal though....

This is the reason why I'm getting gears as my next Mod instead of a roof rack.

regearing should be cheaper than swapping the whole drivetrain. If you really want more power. You should see how a car with 4.88's accelerate. My 4.7 liter tundra w/ 33" and 4.88 gears accelerated very aggressively but sucked on gas only like 12mpg a gallon.

It's already been done. Typically you'd want to use a forklift. Most people will put it on top of a spare tire to sit on, then strap to a pallet. They're about 500lbs so it should be no problem with weight.
