.5" Body Lift

I'm installing a .5 inch body lift and have read the write-ups for 1.5" Where you have to take out the shroud, relocate the radiator, loosen the steering sleeve, ect. Do I have to do all of that for just the .5" body lift?

Could someone chime in that knows or has done it and let me know if I still have to take all these steps for the .5" BL

I don't know but that sure would be a lot of work for .5" I might do the same depending on whether or not my new OME lift eliminated the rub I had on the old lift.

Yeah if you still had to do all that extra crap it might not be worth it. But the fact that this can go on for that last little bit of clearance without making unsightly gaps makes 1/2" the perfect size for just a little more room. IMO

Yeah if you still had to do all that extra crap it might not be worth it. But the fact that this can go on for that last little bit of clearance without making unsightly gaps makes 1/2" the perfect size for just a little more room. IMO

Nice to know! I haven't been able to get out with my truck since replacing my old worn out OME. Too much snow this year to have any trails in the Rockies open. Getting close and if I still have some rubbing I'll give .5" a try.

This guy helped with all my questions when i did mine, and he's right about the washer fluid reservoir. Totally forgot about that part, it has to come out because you simply cant get to the front passenger body mount with the tank still in.

Literally, remove washer reservoir. Then loosen all body mount bolts. Remove the bolts on one side of the truck and start putting the spacers in. Start the bolts but don't tighten. Then put the spacers in on the other side. Torque everything down and you are done.

Do not have to do anything with bumper mounts, steering joints, or radiator. I have heard this is true even with a 1" BL, but I can only speak from experience with a 1/2".

I can confirm that it is the exact same process for the 1" BL kit. Super simple.

Maybe I should have gone with the 1"... the 1" BL is just fluid reservoir as well?!

Thanks Bama. Do you have the torque specs per chance?

I used 40 lb/ft. Here are some directions from Toyota 120 that will help with some of the interior pieces to remove to gain access to the bolts. This is a 1 1/2" lift they did and they had to do more work than is involved with the 1/2" lift.

Just wanted to do an update for whoever searches for this question in the future. I installed the .5" BL and all you have to do it take out the washer fluid reservoir, which is the most time consuming part. Then just take the bolts out and put the spacers in. It took me about 2 hours to complete.
