5 Speed Low Mileage Find

I have another 96' SR5 with dealer/port gray leather. I'll have to look for any Katzkin tags or markings on them. They have Toyota logos stitched into the backrest portion. I would say that the quality is poor compared to the factory leather. The stitchings are breaking and the leather on the door is delaminating.

When my Sister bought her SR5 in Utah in 2001, it was an independent private business that partnered with local Dealerships, to install Leather kits and other accessories, lift kits, etc. on new vehicles prior to or at the time of sale of the vehicle by a Dealership.

They stated that the Leather kits they used were made by Katzkin, but there were no markings denoting that visible anywhere. My opinion was that it is/was of inferior quality to the factory optional Oak Leather in my '97 SR5.

It looks nice, first thing I noticed was the worn shift knob. Mine has 154K on it & still looks brand new. That doesn't look like a stock knob though, it could be a cheap worn aftermarket knob or a 96-98 knob. I would pay 10k for that if there wasn't any rust.

Its nice to know that our trucks are still worth over 10k in a low mileage example but damn, 13k is crazy for an suv thats over 15 years old. I love my 4runner to death but it still has the quirks of an old vehicle with well over 200k miles. I'd be in something newer like a 2nd taco or 100 series cruiser if I wasn't a (relatively) broke student.

Done the second gen taco thing and I still like my 3rd gen more hands down.

Glad I found this thread. Why is it that low mileage 5 speeds are fetching over 10k? I would think a vehicle that is at least 15 years old would be only worth 6-7k with low miles.

Toyota's in general, and this vehicle's in particular, record of reliability. It's better than most cars. It's the Camry of 4WDs.
It is known to be bette r than the similar 4WD products from Nissan, Mistu, Ford or Jeep, and off-the-charts better compared to the disastrous GM S-10 product.
Mazda and Honda didn't make real 4WDs in this class.

Timing belt is due in 1000 miles. That's a $1000 difference.

As to value, that seems a little high. Kelly says $5139 in my zip code with my options and very good condition for private sale. Excellent gets you $5,491. (I put in my '99 5-speed info but with 89k miles; I have 168k). But I hope I'm wrong.

Timing belt and water pump were done at 73k miles. I saw what KBB valued at it at but Toyota 4wds sell well over KBB. I remember seeing one that was identical to the one I'm looking at in the classified section of the forums with 159k miles that just sold for 10K.
