It was explained to me that the 500.00 is what goes to Toyota to Certify from the Dealer vs the work to Certify. I was shown a much larger amount on the work that was needed to Certify. Which I felt should be in the advertised List Price. Most of all, personally check that the certifying work was done. I doubt the 160 check points are made unless they are easily seen as needs or due to routine maintenances at the purchased mileage.
All of the additional work checked out as done + requested maintenance replacements due to mileage. Such as: All new tires, new oil/filter, new air filter (new cabin filter was missed), new front brake pads and dressed rotors, and new State Inspection. So far all has been well on the 2007 2WD V6 SR5 with the 7yr/75,000 power train certification warranty ending in July’s 07 purchase date (with almost 50,000 mi). I did purchase Bumper-To-Bumper warr past that date.
Good luck on your Decisions/Purchase. They Are Very Frustrating!!
