$565 Destination Charge

Does anybody know if dealers really have to pay the $565 destination charge?

According to Consumer Reoprts, destination charges are a genuine expense for the dealer not one of their mostly bogus high profit things like teflon treating your paint. Consumer Reports considers this fee to be non-negotiable. I paid $540, "Delivery, processing, handling" fee when I bought my 4Runner a year ago in Calif.

Neccessary and unavoidable

It's not a negotiable part of the cost of the car. It's what it cost to get the car to the dealership. Some vehicles/brands cost more than others. But most are in the $500 range. It's the one legitimate number on the window sticker.

That's correct. The destination charge on the monrony sticker is exactly the same as the dealer pays on the invoice, no markup on the freight.

actually...after working at a car dealership-the destination charge is already included in the "dealer invoice". Tell them you arent going to pay for it, and they will waive the charge.

Why do they still offer undercoating, I've undercoated brand new cars, what a joke, such little places to spray and most places that you spray are already factory treated, I can't believe people still get these at the dealer

They offer it because people will still buy it.

Thats true, the last thing I say before I sign the paper work is , You know IM not paying the "destination fee" right? I had to walk out once on my jeep deal but I didnt pay for it...!

Destination fee is "freight", the cost to transport the car to the dealership, the dealer pays it. On the invoice the price is the same on the cost side, as it is on the retail column. I think you are refering to "dealer prep" which is mostly profit.
