5spd or Auto off road...

I personally prefer manuals for off road. While I agree that autos are nice to climb with there is always driving back down stuff and I like compression breaking instead of riding my brakes. But if you have dual cases you get compression braking by the gear reduction. So get what you want and gear it right and you can't go wrong

Thanks for the advice guys...

It does sound like the 5spd is more suited for off road... but auto will do just fine as well!

I was hoping to hear that.. I have developed a real hate for slushboxs over the years.. because they suck in every way... but It looks like i need to go that way now cuase i suck...

Hopefully I get a good price for mine so I can upgrade to a limited.

Anybody know if the 4th gens are worth while? I hear they all take premium and are 2 inches lower stock.

Thanks guys .

it's all sixes for me, but i like the comfort of the auto on the road in the runner and love the manual in my subaru

Same here. I came from fast/sports cars. I absolutely HATE automatic transmissions, but my runner has one, and I couldn't be happier, as funny as that sounds. The runner is not a sports car, its a truck. Im all for more control, which is one of the main reasons I love Manny tranny, but when your controlling a big lumbering beast anyway, theres not much more to be gained by having access to any gear at any time. Just IMO...
