5spd transmission wiring/sensor diagram?

Searched but to no avail. Looking for a wiring diagram or just a map of what sensor is where on the 5spd.

I have no 4wd High, suspecting I may have reversed the harness after doing a clutch install. Have a vague memory of this happening the last time I did a clutch on a 3rd gen but forget how I fixed it.

I had this problem when I bought my truck in December. I had 4lo, but no hi, or reverse lights. After me searching I came up empty handed. I ended up crawling under it looking for problems and found that the half the harness wasn't hooked up, but it wouldn't reach to where it needed to. I ended up unhooking everything and starting fresh and found it would only reach a certain way. Everything works as it should now...almost felt bad for hitting the last owner with the price I offered.....almost!

Dont think you can reverse the wires. Plugs aren't the same and wires aren't long enough to plug incorrectly. Lol. I just did clutch job on my 99 2 weeks ago.

My 97 plugs were the same, but would only reach the reverse switch, and 4wd switchs one way as the reverse pigtail is wrapped in the same electrical sleeve as one of the switches, and the other side is longer and ran by itself on mine.

So I found a problem. When the transmission was lowered we snapped off a connector but glued it back on. It's the grey one on the passenger side that is just a male plug with no lead, sticking directly out of the tranny. I just checked it and it was broken again. I thought it was for reverse lights. I couldn't get a paper clip in there to check if it was...

Everything else seems to be hooked up properly. I looked again, and there is no way to reverse the two blue connectors on top. The harness would never reach in that config. I'm almost certain those two blue connectors are the 4x4 hi and low switches that lock the hubs.

I was able to get it in 4x4 hi by manually closing the right side upper blue connector.

At this point I'm just considering mounting a switch to manually engage the hubs with that connector disconnected.

Spot on. One with no lead is the reverse switch. The other two plugs WILL go in the wrong way and you CAN misroute the wires such that they can plug in wrong. The wire colors should both be the same on both sides of the blue plugs. That is how you can tell if it is wrong. On a '99, 4Hi is blue and white/black. 4L is blue-red and white/black.(Note: if you pull the switches to clean/test them it is also possible to insert them back in the wrong holes. The only differences is the wire colors. I THINK, but memory is foggy, that blue/high goes on right side and the blue/red $L goes on left, but if someone wants to confirm that would be better. Can't tell from the EWD or FSM.)

Also check for damage to the detection switches themselves. It's easy to trash a switch connector or pull a wire from its connector muscling the bell/trans/TC monster in and out during a clutch job. The damage can be hard to see.

I pulled the blue wire loose from the plug and thus lost 4Hi. Only found it when I started doing continuity checks on the whole circuit. If you stay stumped, that's what you need to do.

Oh yeah, here is the wiring diagram--you have to pay attention to the little numbers explained in the corner as the diagram covers both A/T and M/T.
