Very true, did my BS at ASU and summers were warm, but not to what we call hot.. as in, your palm trees do not seem to randomly catch fire..
Mechanically the Canadian and American 4Runners are the same. Toyota seems to be doing away with their hot/cold climate packages and just making any extra cooling/heating functions standard fare. I did some looking around and I can't find any OEM auxiliary fan for a 1GR-FE 4Runner.
Could you post some photos of the Tacoma auxiliary fan and how it installs in the Tacoma? I couldn't find any images on the world wide web and I'm curious. Have you tried mocking it up to your 4Runner?

What he said. I used to live in Arizona and spent time in Kuwait, Jordan, and Iraq. Kuwait is orders of magnitude hotter than any of them.
OP: How well does your 4Runner's AC deal with the hellfire weather in Kuwait?
We're still in late Spring, so *just* approaching the 105-110f mark.. will let you know in a few more weeks.
Trans / converter temps in 195-205f range on highway with medium traffic, even with constant hard gas/ brake action (as in most middle eastern traffic)..
A/C starts to struggle a bit in stoplights with traffic. I've been tracking a few readings with the Torque App:
The "Evap fins target" is set at 36.4f when the AC control is set to "Max AC".
The "Evap fin" readings manage to stay in that range in the shade.. but after a few mins under the sun I hear the fan clutch constantly coming on and readings would start to creep up to ~42f. Air out of the AC vents is not too bad at this point, but I'm worried it won't be able to keep up once we really hit summer.
Also, have you considered louvers? 4wd Toyota Owner magazine say they saw a 35 degree drop in the engine compartment of an FJ using Run Cool louvers.
Looks promising, but don't really want to go that far if I don't have to. Hoping some fans and a good ceramic tint would pull me through!
