5th Gen custom bump stops. need some input

I'm just a few days away from completing Beta Testing (just finalizing numbers)

I will have 20 sets available in the first batch and preorder sales for those will begin by the end of this week. Initial batch should be complete and shipping out the week of September 10th.

I just recieved my steel mounting plates as well as my own Ubolt flip kits that are at a very aggressive price point and as strong if not stronger than any other ubolt flip kits available. I'll post some pics tonight or first thing tomorrow.

For those of you that have them. Per the install directions on his site it says there is a notch in the casting which need to point towards the wheel. Mine have no such notch but I'm pretty blind. Can someone confirm?

These appear totally symmetrical, base and rubber. I am pretty sure they bolt on in no specific orientation.

Tacoma Gen1's have a notch you are talking about.

All of the 4th and 5th gen 4runner bump stops are symmetrical. They bolt on in no specific orientation.

It is only the 3rd gen 4runner/1st gen Tacoma that has a notch in the casting. These bumps are a completely different beast in comparison. diffrent suspension geometry and diffrent mounting location. they also have an angle built into them that is needed to make even contact on the frame. The notch just helps with easier installation and perfect alignment.


Cant wait to hear what you guys think about these bumps on the trail!

Most guys don't even realize they made contact with the bump stops until they get out of the truck and look at the LCA and see a nice round contact patch on the LCA.

The only complaint if its even a complaint is, with my front bump stops installed the front of the truck is much more stable and in turn out driving the rear of the truck. So everyone's been beating me up for not having rear bumps yet :lalala:

Get some droop on the arm and put the bolt into the new bumper. Only tricky part was to bring a deep 14mm and use it alone to thread the bolt all the way in and THEN slip the ratchet on to tighten as the clearance on the A-arm is tight for the wrench. 15 minutes, start to finish! I wish my undercarriage was as clean as yours. Unfortunately they salt everything here. 2 Utah winters in and I've got rust spots everywhere. I'll have put some sort of protective film/spray/treatment this year.

On the plus side I did get and installed my [MENTION=146407]Plastics guy[/MENTION] bumpstops. They look so much better than the OE ones and much better buy than the overpriced Timbrens. These should fit the bill perfectly and I look forward to a rear set

I suffer from the OCD with vehicles.......they CANNOT sit overnight if they get muddy! I wash once a week and that includes scouring the underside and no oil or grease can be on it anywhere! My Motorcycles are on another level and look new the day after a ride.......it's a disease that I caught at age 10.

OK!......I gave them an acid test! Wife was driving and She blasts through an intersection that has one of those ''nose stuffing'' dips on the far side with a bunch of ugly gouges where frames have hit and dug chunks out!! I yelled but it was too late so I said ''off the brakes!'' and She gassed it through. What should have been a HUGE bang was just sucked up like a Trophy Truck between the bumps, Bilsteins and the 2.5 lift! The rear made a ''Whump'' but not hard and We both said ""Hey!...those bumpstops worked!'' Plasticman....U da Man!:reddance::lookout:

I know exactly what you mean with that panic feeling like "this is gonna hurt" and then nothing! I love it. I still havent got used to it and still get the pucker factor more times than not just to have the bump stops soak it all up.

I know! I know!! I'm feeling the pressure! I get the hint, lol

I'm just about done with them 4 - 5 weeks until they will be available on my website. I will however start taking orders for beta test guys to run my final production model. I like to get a few sets out to be abused in different ways then I can think of myself.
