5th gen digital climate control assy need programming?

So I couldn't take the little object on my climate control display and ordered one off of ebay. My question is.... Do these things have to be programmed or anything when installed? Or are they plug and play? I know that the older 4runners had problems so maybe someone could chime in their experience. I'd love to let toyota handle this for me, but its 2k out of warranty and they want $1200 to replace it. What a ripoff

I would bet my soldering iron and my shrinkwrap collection that it's plug and play.

In case anyone ever finds a need to replace your climate control module....it is extremely easy to replace and is plug and play. It's literally a 10 minute fix.

I just thought I would share a pic of the wreckage. I took the old climate control apart today to see if I could find the cause of the issue. It seems to me that basically the LCD is just screwed up internally. There is clearly nothing that could have caused this besides it just being defective. It didn't seem to be as bad until the weather turned cold and I had hoped that the warm weather would make it disappear. Unfortunately it has been sitting in my house for a week and there is no sign of it getting better. I just thought that I would share my findings.
