At this point.....I'm just going to add to the derailment.

That's the moderation level. Not enough to take the fun out of it but enough to keep it from turning into a car wreck where everyone has to drive by, slow down and comment on what happened.
See the above embolden and highlighted portion....this.

good for him, that's why he drives a cute little turbocharged sports car. That's his choice.
:flamethrwoer2:

I agree, this forum isn't really any different than any other hobbyist/enthusiast forum imo.

Forums will always sub-divide into cliques in an attempt to separate themselves and try to stand out from the crowd, basic human behavior (imo).

Here you have the established clique wanting to maintain their "status" on the forum and the influx of Bro owners was/is like a giant wave that went over their established "wall".

So now a referendum is called for more moderation because the Hall Monitor's have lost control of the Bro's...lol.

But like the OP said, he's only here for entertainment, right?

It sure is entertaining...
I realized reading you copying my orignal post I meant to say the mid genearation are the imature ones.....fuuuu.

You want to see a forum fail?
Over moderate it. Take all the fun out of visiting the forum.
Noticed what I did there, I've seen a forum have a mass exodus like moses and his people simply because the moderation got out of hand.

As a complete NOOB to this forum…a suggestion I’ve seen work well on another forum: Green font for comments meant to be sarcastic.
Great Idea!

What does green font mean
Use the search function!Pffft.

Man I hope this green for sarcasm thing doesn't take off. I am about half color blind and can barely read it. Of course maybe that's a good thing....

YOU'RE SCREWED

Prior to the last few days, I just never saw the "TrdBro Elitism" that everyone keeps complaining about. I don't think I have ever seen them acting like their trucks are better than ours. They created a thread to post photos in, but there's also a thread for black trucks, silver trucks, white trucks etc...
When a TRDPro owner (usually new) makes a thread and he identifies the vehicle he owns, he is immediately met with jokes he doesn't understand, a page of memes and in general, nothing helpful.

I've used the search function, and 9/10 times it is garbage. I don't like the PC culture either, but new members are being discouraged from posting and it is a problem.
Maybe they should have their own TRDPro sub-forum. It will get them away from the nonsense, and it will satisfy the people that hate TrdPro's in this forum.

Summarizing this whole thread and all the nonsense: Can't we all just get along?

I don't think anyone wants the forum to be boring and lacking of humor, but let's point and laugh at Jeep owners or something. (Only joking) Were here as a community of 4Runner enthusiasts and should be helpful and cool to each other. Period. That doesn't mean I'll cry if you call my ride a pumpkin on wheels, but I think we're all mature enough to know where the line is. Politically correct, NO. Respectful, YES.

Cliques. There's a term I haven't seen bandied about much since my teens. I had hoped most people outgrew the need for a clique mentality sometime around their mid 20's. I never had a use for them even in school.

Every forum I have been a member of over the last 15 years or so has an acknowledged small group of hard core enthusiasts. For whatever that forum represented. Not a clique, but people who genuinely believe in the product or the forum. This one seems no different to me than other forums in that regard. You have a small, core group who has been around in each sub forum since its inception. Some others join that group, some move on. Most members stay around for a few months and move on to the next shiny thing that enters their lives, rarely to be heard from again. I have never thought of this core group of members as a clique. I think of them more as keepers of the flame for whatever that forum represents. Yes, they can be a hard group to break into and convince of one's sincerity. But members prove themselves worthy all the time and are accepted.

Something else I have noticed about most of those forums is that this core group usually has little use for new members who come in with a "Bull in the China shop" attitude expecting the forum to bend to their way of thinking. While most of us are open minded to new ideas, having them rammed down our throats is not the optimum way to make a point. Newer members would be well served to keep this in mind and get a feel for the flow of a forum before they start stepping on toes. Most will eventually see the light and blend in. Some, regardless of how smart they think they are, sadly will not.

Again in these cases, some official moderation is key. Little or no moderation allows tempers to simmer and flair as members who try for a little self applied moderation are slammed back by members who don't feel they have the right to correct them. It's the nature of such a wide diversity of personalities. Even forums need sheriffs and deputies just like cities and counties do. Maybe especially so, because it is so much easier to go all Hulk from behind a keyboard than it would be in a face to face conversation.

Ever notice how all of these threads end up with the same few members posting for each other? You can't/won't stop even when 1Engineer tries to move things onward.

This thread is lost and is the same old crap.

Meanwhile, in the Admin office....

So does anyone want some free 5th Gen cross bars? I bought them from dealer and forgot I got them until the delivery chick dropped them off today. Local peeps only for now since they're kinda large to ship

I bought a gobi so I don't need these damn things
