I have been trying to do some research to figure out if there is something to do about the uncomfort they have. i have had all gens but the 4th gen and my co worker has the 4th and seats are super comfortable. These seats in the 5th gen are the worst. Thinking about selling vehicle due to this issue. Does anyone have a solution to this before i go to dealership to trade?

I`m sure you can find someone who will trade 5 gen seats for yours, I think 5th gen seats are the best, you butt definitely different.

What seems to be the problem with your seats.? Is your truck new? If so my seats were quite hard when new but they have softened up. Apart from that my seats are very comfortable....

Its a 2010 has 40k on it. Just going on a thirty mile trip kills my butt and back. My 3rd gen go on 100 mile trip and feel great. The 4th gen seems to just suck you in and are soft. I think this thing is about to find a new home. May get a tahoe or a 4th gen. This 5th gen mileage sucks on the highway.

Hmmm. When I purchased my 5th gen, I initially felt like I was sitting on the seats instead of in them - unlike my 3rd gen, which offered a lot more bolster support (I had cloth in the 3rd gen). Lately I've noticed that I am much more comfortable in the leather seats of my 5th gen than when I initially purchased the vehicle. I'm not sure if its due to 'break in' or whether I'm just used to the seats. However, with 40K, the seats are likely as broken in as they will get. Unless someone knows whether seats form a 4th gen would swap with those of a 5th, it may be time to trade.

Leather seats on my 2011 Ltd. just fine - did a 5,500 round trip vacation to New Mexico - averaged between 550-750 miles per day getting to/from Ruidoso, NM. No discomfort considering time spent in car. Wife uses a lumbar support as passenger seat does not have one and she was comfortable also (she's about 5' tall, 114 lbs. and I'm 6'3". 230 lbs.) so I believe the seats are fine for our needs. Have previously owned 1st (SR5)/2nd(SR5)/3rd (Ltd) generation 4 Runners and believe 5th generation Ltd seats the best of the bunch.
