5th gen mirror dechroming ideas?

I couldn't find anything when I searched for ideas to either cover up the chrome on the mirrors or replace the turn signal. Has anyone done this?

I'm confused. De-chroming? I can only picture a minimal amount of chrome trim around that mirror turn signal. Do you mean blacking out the reflector a bit? Or actually modifying the chrome trim?

Here is a picture, I would prefer an option that is a little more slick than just Plasti Dip. Vinyl Wrap or a black replacement maybe? I just figured someone on here has eliminated the chrome. Thanks

Five minutes with a scuff pad, masking tape and rattle can will accomplish what you seek.

Yeah I know what you mean but I am seeking a different option, I want to keep the turn signal and just eliminate the chrome.

I don't think you know what he means...

Yeah I know what he meant, the only way to make it look ok is if I could take it out of the mirror because it is all one piece, smooth outside surface all integrated. There has to be someone out there that has done something to fix this. Thanks for all the replies.

Easiest thing to do would just be plasti-dip. If you wanted to change it permanently, take the mirror apart and pop that chrome piece off the light. Use Easy-Off oven cleaner to remove the chrome finish (believe me, it works) and then paint it

Thanks, I didn't really want to take the mirror apart but sounds like that is going to be my only option.

Oven cleaner will dissolve the fake chrome off plastic if that's what you're looking for. I used it to dechrome the wheels on my nitro RC truck, of all things, and it worked great. Just takes some time and a few applications. YMMV. I'd recommend trying it on a random fake chrome object before spraying Easy-Off haphazardly at your truck.
