What's wrong with that video of the Jeep Cherokee? It's a rinky dinky cross-over and considering it's competitors would be the CR-V, Ford Escape, Tuscon/Santa Fe, Rav4 etc, it seemed ok to me.
I thought it was a decent demonstration of its ability.

Keeping in mind the Cherokee will target a completely different buyer than a Wrangler, GC, or 4R, I would have to assume this is for vehicles within its class. I don't think the intention is to imply it will take on a lifted TE off-road. They have the Wrangler for that. I'm sure here is also an element of liability in these commercials. Even the Wrangler ones are soft-core. I'm not a pro, but could the Ford Escape do that same run as easily? I just figured no. Guess they sold me.Starting w/ the The Rubicon Trail - on a scale of 1-10 its rated "Most Difficult" - WTF?
I wouldn't expect them to- it's marketing. Just like Hyundai implies the Elantra is the Lamborghini of 4-door compact sedans with it's urban commercials.I didn't see them say its a rinky dinky cross over that's a little better than its competitors - they are saying its a bonafide OR machine.

Taking it all with a grain of salt.![]()
Did the JEEP video ever actually say it went all the way through the Rubicon in one piece? IIRC, the stock TE that Toyota took through the Rubicon did incur a good bit of body damage.Just watched the Jeep videos of the Trailhawk Cherokee on the Rubicon. Add that to the 4Wheeler article and video of the stock TE finishing the Rubicon with no major damage and I am wondering what the deal is. I know its a really hard trail, but how are the OEMs able to take stock vehicles on it, while trip reports on 4x4 sites and magazines detail the built rigs and carnage on the Rubicon?

No matter what, if there is enough will to get a vehicle through anything, it can get through. Just a matter of how much time/effort/money you are willing to expend. There was a clip on Expo a while back of some guy taking a LR4 through the "hardest trail in South Africa". The video consisted of a bunch of a few dozen people being paid to build a road one rock at a time to get a minivan through a maybe 5 rated trail.
3 transmissions replaced? No major issues?#@! What happens when warranty runs out?
On the earlier Cherokee Trailhawk video......
Is it me, or does it look like it has some sort of SLIDER on it!?....
