5th gen t4r looks like Sequoia?

The other day, I parked next to an all-stock black sequoia at a restaurant, and after we were finished eating, my wife walked out and tried to get into the Sequoia. :nono: It didn't even have a rack on it or AT tires. To her credit, she said she was not paying attention. When I see Sequoias from far away, from certain angles, I also get them mixed up (for a mere SPLIT second only of course). I think it is mainly if you are looking at it from the side/rear diagonally. Wonder if they will further differentiate the two vehicles' styling going forward.

Are you talking about the current gen or the last gen of the Sequoia? Personally I HATE the looks of the new one, love the old gen.

I think the 5th gen looks like the older gen sequoia, just bigger and bulkier. The new ones are tanks.

Yes, they do somewhat have the same styles and looks, which is good in my view. I searched all over for a used Sequoia with low miles and the options I wanted but could not find one, that is when the new 4R's came out, I was sold. I am not a fan of the new Sequoias. One of the dealers told me that people were holding onto their Sequoias because they did not like the new body style, why it was hard to find the one I wanted.

I took my son to play basketball the other day. We parked next to a 4th gen, black, v8. I think he said it was an '03. Anyway, it was super clean and I said, "nice 4runner.". He said, "nice Sequoia."

When I corrected him, explaining that it's the new 5th gen T4R, he was shocked. He looked mine over and said he was going straight to the Toyota dealership.

That's kind of cool. But, I think earlier 4runners are awesome too. I'm going to probably buy a 3rd gen or an older crew cab Taco for my son this year as his first vehicle.

The previous gen Sequoia is a very nice looking vehicle. The 4runner may be a smaller platform. But, it is very close in overall size. I think the previous Sequoia was just about the best overall package for light duty SUV duty. It was really a true mid-size SUV.

The latest Sequoia is not my favorite design. It looks like they cut and welded the truck's front clip onto it. The older Sequoia had a much more naturally shared look with the Tundra (also previous gen).

Wanted more offroad capability which a bigger sidewall tire can offer. Also, didn't like the look of the old rims...too tall and too much bling IMHO. Also, didn't like how hard they would be to clean compared to the SR5 rims. They just look like they belong on this truck to me...

I like the SR5 rims as well.

Snooperstyle, I'm curious... Did your ride get a lot smoother when you changed to the 17s and did you lose much "nimbleness" in handling from the lower profile 20s?

I'm probably not making any changes until it's time for new tires, but wouldn't mind a little smoother ride if the handling is still good.

Since I put E-rated AT tires on there, I don't think it is comparable to an SR5 with stock road tires. That being said, my ride is much firmer now, but it is because of my tires, not the rims. Sorry I cannot help on that. There is a whole thread on this though somewhere...it may need a revisit now that some others have done the switch.
