Hi guys, I'm from Namibia and new here so please bare with me....I'll go and introduce myself later on today.
I have recently bought a Japanese Importr 1995 Hilux Surf 3.4 V6 auto with 145000km on the clock. The van ran very well in the summer with the temp gauge going up to just under halfway, it was only when winter started that I noticed that the temp gauge would not move.....I figured it must be that the thermostat has been removed, so just buy a new one and install right? The moment I install a thermostat the engine starts overheating due to the thermostat not opening "I know thermostats can be faulty out of the box, so I have tried 3 different ones with the same result".
Things I have done include 1. Replacing the radiator and pipes 2. replacing the waterpump 3. Flushing the engine 4. Replaced the thermostat x3
I have however noticed that in the schematics of the 5VZ engine it shows a oil cooler mounted on the side of the engine block, and that a waterline runs from the waterpump to the oil cooler....on my car the outlet from the waterpump is blocked of, but there is also no inlets on or around the oil cooler that a waterline can connect to...So my question is whether anybody has a 5vz engine like mine that does not have a water cooled engine oil cooler. I Am almost certain that my problem is with the fact that there is no waterline coming from the block into the waterpump....
Please HELP!!!!
This is what the öil cooler on my car looks like...
Here you can see the outlet from w/pump to oil cooler blocked
