5vzfe Motor Mount “is this normal”

Good afternoon,

I had another post about an exhaust rattle that I thought was exhaust bushing related but now think maybe motor mounts. The picture shows the current condition of my mounts at 423k. The driver side mount isn’t collapsed but looked shifted and not on center.

Thoughts?

At that mileage I'd just replace it. Does the engine move like this?

Granted, Prados are fulltime 4x4 which will wear mounts faster, but that is high mileage regardless.

I was wondering, if the frame gets a bend and is straightened at the frame shop, what does it do to the engine mounts?

Start your engine and lift your hood. With your left foot on the brake, shift your transmission into drive. Looking through the bottom of your windshield watch the engine while you give it a little gas with your right foot. The engine should move a little. If it has gross movement and lifts quite a bit, one of your engine mounts is torn or cracked. Now do the same test by putting the transmission and reverse and you'll see the engine move the opposite direction.

If you found one or both of your mounts are bad, this video will help you out:
