6112 with weight

Been reading but need to start making decisions. I have a shrockworks front bumper on the way and need to upgrade suspension to accommodate. I do a decent amount of field work for my job, so must of my time off road is fire roads, etc and not so much recreational wheeling. I like the idea of the 6112s but if I need to purchase upgraded coils, other options can be had for similar price. But the maintenance required from higher end coil overs doesn't sound great either. Looking for minimal lift (1-2"). Would love suggestions.

A set of EIBACH springs in 650 or 700 pound spring rate will run about $220 + the $575 for the 6112s.

For not much more, you can get an ICON 58647-700 which is their Extended Travel coilovers with 700lb springs. You can also get the 58646-700 which is a standard travel coilover, good for 0-2.5" lift with no aftermarket arms required.

Yah, I think the 6112s will sag from the extra front weight. Seems silly to buy the 6112s then change the springs. Why not get a set of OMEs with medium springs or Dobinsons. These shouldn't require the 25~35k rebuilds that the icons and such supposedly need.

It's been on the radar...I guess I like the idea of being able to adjust height in the future but realize I can't have it all.

I'm using 700lb springs with my 6112s. I'm at clip#2 and a little over 2" of lift with my bumper.
Adjustability is great but it can be a pain tearing everything down to adjust the clips. I've done it many times where it doesn't bother me though.

Edit: I have a shrockworks bumper.

Correct me if I am wrong but the springs are supposed to hold the weight, not the shocks. Can’t you use heavier springs with these shocks?

That’s correct. But the 6112s already come with a set of springs. They’re a set so you’d be throwing away the springs they come with.

Or he can sell them to me. I think plenty of TRD Pro owners would buy 6112 coils for the extra 1" increase plus the weight difference.

Perhaps. I'm not sure of the 6112 spring height, but keep in mind that much of the lift is achieved by a collar that can be adjusted from 0 - 2.5".

Trd Pro Bilsteins shocks are not adjustable like 6112 shocks. Trd pro coils have a height of 13” while 6112 are a 14”. Plus the weight difference between the two coils is a plus too.

Had my 6112/5100 combo installed this week.
For the fronts, I went with King 14" 650 lb and had the shop set them to 5/3 for non-KDSS (supposed to give 1.6" lift in the front if using the 6112 springs). With the heavier King springs and NO ADDITIONAL weight in the front, I ended up with about 2.5" of lift in the front. The front is also super stiff as expected, but bumper/winch should be getting here soon. Hopefully the front end will drop ~1/2" and I end up around the 2" lift mark.

I'll try and remember to come back and update once I get the bumper/winch on. I'm going with C4 lo pro bumper, so little bit less weight than what you are planning but maybe it will help with some ballpark figures.

Here are the numbers provided by the shop from installing 14" King 650lb springs on 6112s at 5/3 on non-KDSS immediately after install BEFORE any settling and BEFORE bumper/winch install. This was with just over 1/2 tank of gas.

34 5/8 34 3/4
36 3/8 37 1/8

37 1/4 37 1/4
38 1/8 38 5/8

I really should have taken my own measurements before getting the install done. Once the bumper/winch are on and the springs settle down and all that, I'll try to remember to come back and post final measurements.

Are you going to sell the coils that come with the 6112 kits?

Thanks a ton for all of the guidance. I pulled the trigger on a 300/599 Dobinson's setup on Friday to take advantage of some black friday pricing. I will update as I get stuff installed.

new bumper

i found my paperwork on the setup i am running. I have the schrockworks bumper with full hoops, a warn 8K winch and steel cable. On the front I am running 6112s and 14x700 springs 3inch. On the back I am running 5100s w/ t13 springs. The front shock settings are ds at notch 4 and ps notch 3. I did buy them at Wheelers Off Road. they extremely helpful on front shock setup.I stiil have a little rake , if you want it level go up one more notch on both sides. As I said before I should have changed the ucas to get a little adjustment in the alignment.

Yea will probably be selling the 6112 coils. Looks like the 650 lb ones are going to work just fine once the extra weight gets put on. I can do $50 +shipping for the set if you're interested shoot me a PM.
