6th Gen 4Runner Predictions!

More comfortable seats please!

After driving two hours in the 4Runner, the seats start to feel like concrete and my back is aching. I was hoping that after 30k miles they would start to break in. They definitely need more padding.

Please dear god - move the door switches back down to the arm rest height. I hate the switches on top of the sill area.

My wife has a 5th gen, I have 2 3rd gens. I drive her 5th gen about 20% of the time and I have to consciously think about where the window switches are every time I do. On the 3rd gen they're just fore of the elbow pad on the door card, where your hand would fall naturally, as in 90% of the other cars on the road.

I find myself fumbling around the elbow-rest area trying to find them as I'm rolling up to toll booths, or fast food joints, or when trying to show the guy who just cut me off he's number 1 in my book etc... When I should be thinking about tire placement and paying attention to my surroundings, instead I'm devoting what precious little brainpower I have in reserve to trying to find the damn window switches.

And can I also make a suggestion, Toyota, that you put a small LED behind where the power mirror adjusters on the 6th gen? because in the dark at night trying to adjust the mirrors shouldn't require me to turn on the interior lights to find the switch on the dash.

I could see the body being the same as the new Prado for cost saving measures, but they'll have to do something about the tailgate for the US, no 4Runner in history has had a barn door, and they've all had rolldown rear glass.

I don't foresee the barn door coming over. I would like to see the return of the clam shell.

I'm hoping that the success of the redesigned Highlander means that Toyota doesn't try to make the 4Runner a crossover. Other manufacturers that have stopped making BOF didn't have a successful crossover, the Highlander seems to already fill that role really well for Toyota.

I think the whole exterior design team at Toyota is high. Every year it seems like just about all of their new models get uglier and uglier. Some models even look demonic to me. I think they need to tone things down a little bit. Just my opinion.

There is no model change for 2018. They wont be announced until July 2017. First dealers shipping in August 2017. No minor change and no full model change. I am an insider.

The Corolla and Camry are great improvements. That new little hatchback they have is slick.

The Highlander is disappointing because it went from looking like an SUV to a bloated minivan.

The 4th Gen 4Runner was a little too aerodynamic and gentle looking, and the 5th Gen seems to be a throwback to the FJ62 to me.
