yes, but do not under any circumstances use GL-5. It will destroy your synchros...

Redline MT-90 is about the only 75w-90 that I have found that will work in our transmissions.

I filled mine up with 75w90 Amsoil the last time I did mine. For the Front, t-case and rear. They also list both weights on their site.

the manual transmission may require a special lube to protect yellow metal bushings .. GM uses sychromesh gear oil. toyota I would use vin # and check with dealership.

Yup. A GL4 gear oil.

I have tried Redline MT90 and Amsoil GL4 and mine prefers the Amsoil.

For 2000's - 75W90 Gl4 or Gl5.

Only certain GL5's destroy synchros. The Toyota Alltrac/GT4 manual transmission and most Subaru manual transmissions REQUIRE and GL5 to run hypoid gears and synchros with the same fluid.

Valvoline 75w90 and 80w90 GL5's both work just fine for both those transmissions (personal experience over 200k+ miles) - as do a number of other options.

The manual specs GL-4 or GL-5 for the transmission fluid so there is some truth in your statement.

The GL-5 will work in the manual trans but it will just shift crappily.

Most lubricants will show a viscosity at 40C and 100C on their datasheets. The 80W-90 will be much thicker than a 75W-90 at 40C. The difference is wider as temperatures drop, so it may become important in colder climates. (look up "viscosity index" if you want to learn more about how this works).

Well I just ordered the Amsoil 75w90 GL4, should arrive later this week hopefully since I want to drive it next weekend. From what I have learned you need to be careful to put the right stuff in or if it has sulphur in it it can eat away the brass syncros which is probably why shifting goes bad on some trannies.

Since I just happen to be purchasing gear oil for my front diff with ARB I will share what I found. Sticker on front diff calls for 75W90. According to ARB they just state that is should be GL-5 90 weight.
