76 Gas Offers 15 Cent a Gallon Discount Through Their App

I have no affiliation with 76, I’m just a cheap bastard who doesn’t want to pay a penny more for gas (or anything else) than I have to. Through 31Dec19, you can get 15 cents a gallon off by downloading their app, linking a form of payment, and paying through the app.

When you buy gas, you punch in the pump # at the station & the app provides a code that starts it. You get a receipt via email.

I was on a trip in Alabama when I used the discount to drop the price from $2.09 to $1.94.

In my area, the major chains are .10 cents to .20 cents > places like Murphy.

Some says the majors are Top Tier. In another forum here, a poster who claimed to understand the TT thing said TT stations are required to buy x amt. each month. Once that quota is met, they're free to source from whoever they choose...and they do.

His opinion was to buy from a station that turns a lot of gas. This way you know it's fresh - the more important thing in his opinion.

I buy a lot of Murphy gas. All of my vehicles run well on it.

Unfortunately here, 76 is usually one of the most expensive gasolines around. Usually run 20-25¢ higher than other local stations. I use my GasBuddy card and pay the monthly fee of 6.99. Get 20¢ cents off per gallon for the 1st 40 gallons then 5¢ after.

I was in Anniston, AL. Per Gas Buddy, that station is at $2.29 a gallon now so it would be $2.14 with the discount. Sam's is a couple of miles away and they're at $2.15.

About 1/2 of that where I live and about 1/2 of the people here came from Cali.

76 has a new deal: get their credit card & use it as your form of payment in their app for 25 cents off a gallon through 31Mar20. I haven’t applied for a new credit card in years but I went for this one for the cheaper gas and b/c the 76 station is right on my way home so it’s much more convenient. I’ll just go back to Sam’s Club for gas when the promotion ends.

I was bummed b/c the 25 cent/gal discount offered by 76 ended on 31Mar. Except it didn’t! Stopped to fill up & saw it’s been extended through September. Paid $1.32 today.
