Finaly got the 7m pulled from the supra
Id just like to say this had been the easyist engine ive ever pulled.
over 2 days about 6-7 hours total working on it its out!
only had 1 bolt give us an issue

Nick do you know who the "mechanic" was who rebuilt this engine?

THEY NeED THIER F u ckIng TEETH KICKED IN!

So 12-14 hours to pull an engine is the easiest? Are you used to pulling engines out of trains or something? haha, it takes me about 3 hours to yank a 22re. I thought my 22re was the easiest... take off upper intake plenum, remove wire harness, fuel lines, cooland lines and bell housing bolts and motor mounts... done!

Well Ive pulled mostly front wheel drive engines lol those suck

Yes its a 73 drop top its my sisters boy friend we are about to redo front suspension.

As for the ass hole machanic ill wait till tonight to type it cause I need a key board to much to type on a phobe
 
ok here is a list of horrible things ive found in the removal process

1.drivers side motor mount missing a bolt
2. power steering pump mount missing a bolt.
3. both sides motor mounts came loose with vary little force less than 5 lbs
i dont thing this "mechanic" owned a torque wench
4.after removing the tranny from the engine we remove the torque converter and i find that one of the fly wheel bolts is not only finger loose but isnt even threaded in all the way!! all the others take less than 10 lbs of force to loosen!
5. after all that i grab the crank bolt that holds the pulley. finger loose.

im so concerned that i fell i now have to go threw entire engine and check EVERY single bolt and nut.

if he cant torque a fly wheel what stops him from being able to on a head bolt, crank cap or rod end?

im surprised we made it the 2 hour drive home!

My bad. I was thinking you did 6-7 hours a day for two days.

Agreed!! Better safe than sorry, and now is the best time to do all of that while the motor is pulled. Honestly, eventually when I do a motor swap I will rebuild the motor anyways so I know for sure that it's good for a long time. A rebuild is cheap as long as you're not replacing big parts. Machine work won't be much (hone, hot tank, and maybe bore the cylinders and deck the block), $300 or so at most for minimal machine work. Rebuild kit would probably be about $400-$500 (just guessing). It seems like a lot but it's money well spent for a long lasting engine.
 
Well I was already planing on pulling crank and having it pollished and changed bearings but I didn't want to pull head

If you're questioning the work of the builder, it may not be a bad idea. Can you reuse the head bolts? It may cost you nothing more than a head gasket.
 
update
sorry no pics right now didnt want to get phone nasty

i have all the etxernal stuff off the engine for cleaning and painting
along with all new gaskets for everything.

more bad stuff i found the out side 2bolts of exhaust were loose and you could see where it was getting out
valve covers were not tight and oil was leaking in the spark plug valley.

thank god that all the head bolts and crank and cam bolts were not finger loose as well im going to go threw everyone and make sure they are torqued to spec.

pan bolts were super loose all were finger loose.

ill get pictures of everything Wednesday when i work on it some more.
 
update got cressida pan and oil pump on pan back on block painted new head gasket in and head torqued down. manifold painted and bolted on intake is close to ready for paint

psssst... you have a wrench and an extension hiding in your head :)

That looks sweet!! When do you think you'll be done with the swap? Make sure you take notes. You're going to need them when you come down to my house and swap mine :D
 
Lol its going to be most likely next spring cause I still don't have a fly wheel or 5m motor mounts also it might snow soon and I need the truck to be functional unless I can find a rolling chassis
