800 Miles and sulfur smell, should I be concerned?

The 4Runner has roughly 800 miles on it and so far I have filled the tank 4 or 5 times, to the best of my knowledge.

First fill up: dealer (don't know what they used)
Second fill up: Sunoco
Third fill up:Shell
Fourth fill up: Shell
Fifth: BP
Sixth: Sunoco

After the latest fill up is when I started noticing something when I was working in the trunk with he car started. I can't yet say if I smell it inside the car. Is this something I should call Toyota about? I think it's the fuel but reading all the threads here about sulfur smell I felt it was best to ask the pros. :lookout:

Totally normal, but I think its more to do with the catalytic convertor than the fuel. At least it doesn't smell like garlic.

it's a normal smell of every car i've ever owned..
Lean into the gas little heavy, and you get the smell.. nothing new here, and nothing unusual.

I'm sorry, but I just have to go there. You are advocating "Garlic" as in Garlic4runner and you are concerned about a sulfer smell? :lol:

I got a 5th gen SR5 last month and when I drove it off the lot, it smelled so bad I almost took it back to tell them something was wrong. Now, after 2k mi, sulfur smells only emanate from the driver's seat.

It was quite bad to start and now it isnt an issue. It seems like the catalytics are partly to blame, but I have no proof.

I have otherwise been extremely happy with my 4Runner. Lift on its way.

Smelled like chinese food to me for the first few months.

Sulphur? Never broken in an engine that smelled like a fart bomb. :toilet: (Yes.. I finally got to use that icon)

i just assumed it was sulfur. All i know is that it was not a pleasant smell, like something rotten coming from near the trunk when I was working in the trunk in the garage with the vehicle running. I can't say for sure I know what sulfur smells like, bt given the threads on this forum I felt it was a good call. :cowboy:

The sulfur smell is from the catalytic converter breaking in. I won't bore you with the chemistry, but its normal for a new car. Some cars will always produce this smell under hard acceleration. If you drive up a steep highway mountain pass, you will often smell it from other vehicles.
