If its a bikini top your after, this is a great option.

Its what i used, and it worked great and cheep. took 30 min to fabricate the flatbar that mounted to the back of the cab.

I Highly recommend the Softopper! Been running mine for a few years, all year round, in Montana weather. Best thing I ever did for my 4runner!!! Awesome! With the rear and sides rolled up, and the door windows up, you can still light a smoke while driving on the highway, and with windows down it is very pleasant. Not as windy as a jeep.

Soft top would be nice for the summer (as long as you live in a low theft aria & bever carry anything of value or have a system.) But they suck @$$ in the winter! way too much cold air sneaks in & they dont hold heat at all!
Thats 1 of the main reasons why I sold my Samurai (+ wanted something a bit bigger for the family to ride in)
Oh & did I mention all the god offal Noise they make when flapping away down the road. & forget conversations or listening to the radio at a moderate level.
Dont get me wrong, if I found one fore next to nothing Id probably get it to use for a few months in the summer. But there is no way in #e!! Id pay nearly $800!!!!!!!!!! There are way better things I could spend that much on... for about $30 more "OME SUSPENSION KIT" & I have a nice comfortable ride with a slight lift..... about 250 you could have an ARB locker. OR lockrights in both front & rear with $ to spare......

I don't even have hot air coming from my heater, and I run my softopper in winter, no problem. If you have heat, I'd guess it'd be fine. I'm pretty sure Idaho and Montana winters are similar. I just wear some carhardt coveralls and drive.......or maybe it's my giant macho Manly bits that keep me warm!! LOL!!

well I have a 5 year old daughter that has to ride with me.... She needs to be kept warm.
I do get cold easy because I have Raynaud's.... & Though its pain full to get really cold, I could survive if I had to.. (did it for years before my daughter in a VW with no heat at all). But I hate the thought of my daughter freezing.

Haha, that's awesome that you also had a no heat VW.....I do too!!! I've got a '74 Beetle and a '73 bus! I actually finally made the heat "work" in my Beetle. I'm just really used to riding with no heat,.....and I'm also a "Ball-buster".....so , I'm just giving you a hard time.

Love it. Got it quick too. Ordered it on a Monday and recieved it that Thursday. Comes with a protective bag too.

Here's something I had in my bookmarks.
Toyota 4Runner and Pickup: Cheap Tricks
Salivating waiting to get mine running. In Georgia the softtop would be a year round asset if the air blows cold out the A/C vents while cruising. I don't drive much over 55 these days so wind noise is not going to be an issue. I can go 40, not in a hurry. I do like the quality that big boy shows down and up. What's it cost? I think the lure to the bikini mods is affordability. In ID if it was a 3 month summer gig, I'd go cheap. That's why Minnesota's state bird is the mosquito. I saw another neat FJ photographed installation as well. Maybe somebody can post that link.

Hey did you get that from a guy in Northeast PA?! Auto, 6cyl, marlin front bumper, 33s, etc?! I was looking at that one but never got a chance to see it in person. How is it?!

I did. It runs awesome. I detailed inside, painted fenders and am now painting all bumpers and sliders.
