89 4 runner

Hello, I wanted to get a 89 4 runner, this guy has one for $3000 with the original motor which has 235,000 miles on it, clean title, 5 speed stick shift, no electrical or motor problems, the only problem he says it has is the windows go down but hard to go back up-which is probably just the switches)

I just wanted to know if this was a fair price?

It has new paint, no dents, stock 4x4 lift, please let me know what you guys think?

Thanks!!!

So I ask the guy a little more about the truck, turns out it actually has 281,586 miles and the odometer went out on him about a month ago. He has no knowledge of what work has been done to the truck at all. He said "All I know it works fine....meaning it gets me from a to b and back"

He here a pic of the motor, look like it hasn't been worked on in a bit,
So I figure I'm looking at another 1000 plus for an overhaul/rebuilt engine?
Letting him know that, he said he's sticking to the price...
What you guys think?

I think if you're planning on rebuilding the motor anyway, keep looking for a truck with a blown motor and save yourself $2000. But prices depend on where you're at. A rust free truck is worth much more in New England than New Mexico.

But that one you're looking at seems pretty clean, it'll be hard to find another truck with a body like that. If the interior is in great shape as well, it might be worth it to you to drive that motor into the ground and then swap to a 5VZE.

Took me close to a year but I found a full loaded 89 (power window and pop up moonroof) black with a blown head gasket for 900, kicker was it actually ran ok just lots of white smoke. Body was clean and original paint with just 1 minor rust spot for its age. Even had the matching Oem
stickers on the fenders. With the money I saved I went for a 1uz swap instead of doing the head gasket
Is yours a re-paint cause it might be hiding some other issues, especially with that attitude the seller is giving upon further questioning about vehicle history
