'92 Rescue Runner

So the thermostat fix the whole problem. Drove it around a bunch today and the needle stayed right below half. Glad that's fixed!
 
Alright guys, need some additional input.

Pretty much my plan for the spring is to cut out the 4link in the rear and leaf it. I know some of you guys like links but they are just way too soft for my taste and I want the rear sitting higher. My other reason is I want to stretch the rear out a little bit so my tire sits in the middle of my fender well. Unfortunately I have to wait until the weather gets better so I can drive the mustang while the runner is down.

I have been looking at doing the trail gear kit, but it is pretty spendy. Since I have 3" springs up front, I'd get 4" for the rear to help with sag and the extra weight of my rescue gear.

My other option would be to build my own kit basically using skys hangars and shock hoops. I could get a hold of some 63" chevy springs fairly easily but not sure if they would have the lift I need.

I'm doing the Chevy 63 to save on funds. From what I have read, they will give you the lift to match your TG front.

Really? That's good to know! Most people run the 2wd ones right? I'd rather run the 63s because it would be way cheaper.
 
So I bought my rear kit. I'm thinking the runner will be going under the knife in about a week. :pimp:
 
What chevy springs did you end up getting? I got about 3" out of my chevys.

What size Irocs? They are great snow wheelin tires!

I think they are the 3 leaf ones, I'll get some pics up soon of them. 3" should be perfect because I am running 3" springs up front currently.

Turns out the guy got called into work early so we couldn't meet today, so hopefully tomorrow. They are 36/13.5/r15. Pretty wide but couldn't pass up the offer. They have over 75% on them. I hate snow wheeling with my bfgs. haha
 
Finally getting the ball rolling on the rear. I got my kit from skys off road, and today I started cutting stuff out. I was somehow thinking it came with spring perches but it doesn't. So I will have to get some in the next couple days.
I have noticed in the last couple days that my rear has felt unstable. Well while cutting today, I noticed that I broke the driver side sway bar mount on my axle. haha Must have happened last time I went wheeling in the snow.
Well I will have more pics to come but this is where I got today.



 
Well with all the brackets cut off my axle, I think it is 30lbs lighter. haha Now for some more grinding. :cool:
 
Finally got everything all good and clean for welding.


Did a little mockup, I hope I did the math correctly on my spring hangers. :D
My buddy is coming over tomorrow afternoon to get it all welded up. I trust his welds more than mine, hangers are pretty important to weld correctly. More pics to come tomorrow or Saturday. :bigok:
 
Well I am looking at getting a driveline built now. :doh: I wanted to push my axle back a bit, but ended up being way too much. Oh well. I love the look of stretched toyotas anyways.

It's back around 5" or so. I think it is too much honestly. I am going to fix it. It will still be stretched, just not that much. I'll get some pics up when I get it figured out. :wink2:
 
Ok to take a break from all the suspension posts I did something cosmetic. I have the "euro" tails that have the clear turn signals. I decided to change it up and have my buddy tint them, something he does on the side. I think they look way cleaner now and it is something you really don't see on toyotas. What do you guys think about them? Sorry the pics kinda suck.
