Well I am starting this page for my swap. I will just be swapping in a 3.0 jdm motor. I know you all are going to say it is a waste of money but only have 1k in the motor plus timing belt water pump And new oil pump and seals all the way around. Stay tuned for photos.
Well last night I got the new motor on the motor stand. I pulled the oil pan off it was a pain. I hope I can get it sealed as good as the factory had it. But the oil pan was nice And clean next step is to take all the stuff off the top-ended. To get it ready for the stuff of my motor now. I am happy with the motor seam the be well taken care off and low mileage.
Good luck with your swap. I just swapped the engine in my 95 4Runner with a reman from Jasper. I also did a few modifications. Now it runs better than it did when I drove it off the dealership lot in December 1994. Well worth it.
Well got most of the too end stuff removed wiring all moved out of the way hope I can remember where all these vac lines go. Tomorrow is the fun part of remove the bell housing bolts and moving the tranny back.
If you can't remember where the vacuum lines go, I took numerous photos (before I removed mine) and I have several vacuum line diagrams (OEM and enthusiasts).
You dont have to move the tranny back, just remove the radiator and when you have the bellhousing bolts loose, hook up the engine hoist and slide the engine forward and lift it up and out. I've been there done that, Good luck!
Thanks for the tip I was thing it I move the took the tranny loss it would make more room and just bring the tranny forward with the motor then take the bolts out I think a few inches would help out Alot. Yeah the vac lines I took pics so we will see if I get them back right
Well got all the bolt out of the tranny not as bad as I thought it would be did not even have to move the tranny. It is raining here now so work has stopped only have maybe another hour and she should be out.
Gone to have to find a new front pipe as well some weld the O2 in to the pipe smh... But I found one on eBay for 77 bucks plus I already have a new o2 to go in anyways
What year they put the hydro time belt tensioner on these 3.0 because the old does not have one and it is a 93 and I am thinking 92 they stopped the spring style so I guess someone has put a motor in this thing before.
Well new motor is in but I think I have a few line in the wrong place she will run but is pumping fuel in to the exhaust she did fire up the first try. Now back to looking at all these lines tomorrow....
Had a few hoses in the wrong spot she is running good just took it for a lap around the block. Now got to get this god awful muffler off this thing sound like poop... Then off the get the ac vac and charged hope it has a good seal. Over all I have about 10 hours in this job not back for a one man crew with help for one of my buddy's to line up the motor and get a few bolt in the bell housing.
Well got all the bugs work out now have to figure out why the ac compressor is not lining up I don't know if it is the wrong bracket or what so have to look into that sometime after it cools down out side and need to find a cooling loop pip that have the y with the two big hoses going to one side and a smaller on coming out in the middle...
Well from what I have read I get I messed up by not removing the old ac bracket and installing it on the new motor I guess if this motor had come out of a truck then the bracket is shorter then the t4r bracket I guess I will have a long night tonight to get it all swapped out and install the new dryer so I can get the ac charged up.
It had 223k on it but I don't think it was the original motor.it had a bad rod knock from the previous own running it out of oil. From what I could tell.
