94 LandCruiser Wheels TO 98 4Runner...

I know this has been asked before and I have done searches. Just want to run it by the 4Runner brain-trust. I am going to look at some 94 Landcruiser wheels this week. I know they should bolt right up. I am a little concerned with having read about a "lip" that the factory rims "sit" on, and I have read the Landcruiser wheels won't do this. I don't want to cause any added stress or put undue weight somewhere it shouldn't be.

My Second questions is tire size. The articles states the current tires on the Landcruiser wheels are 275/80/16. My question is will these rub on a factory 98'
Limited with NO LIFT. Also could these tires be Swapped to the standard "split spoke" wheel that comes on the Limited. I believe the Landcruiser wheel is 16x8 whereas the 4Runner is 16x7, maybe? SO whatcha say...? I really wanted to hold out for some 5th gen wheels, but this looks to be a good deal.

275/80r16 is 33.3x10.8ish. They'll rub.

You might have to call around to find a tire place to put them on a 7" wheel. Some shops won't do that.

So going from a 265/75/16 (stock tire) to a 275/80/16 will rub? I would think there would be a minimal difference in size between these two. I still have plenty of room in the wheel well. My mechanic said the height difference between the two would be minimal.

You're not thinking about this correctly.. Sure, if all you do is drive in a straight line they'll work. But turning they will rub. A 285/75R16 is a 33 and requires a lift. A 275/80R16 is an even taller tire. Despite being thinner, it will still rub. You should do some research on what all the numbers mean on a metric tire.

Regarding the lc80 wheels. The wheels should fit on the hub around that "lip". Just be aware that some of the older lc80's used different style lug nuts. So your factory lug nuts might not work.

There's actually a huge difference in size between those two. The first number is how wide the tire is, in mm. The second number is the height of the sidewall, expressed as a percentage of the width (80%, in this case). Multiply the height of the sidewall by two and add the wheel size and you get the actual height of the tire. The actual sizes will vary by manufacturer, but a 265/75r16 converts to 31.6x10.4r16. 275/80r16 converts to 33.3x10.8r16. Two inches taller and almost half an inch wider.

Whenever I have to think about tire sizes, I fire up an app on my phone called Tire Calculator Pro.... It compares metric to standard, compares two sizes side by side so you can visually see it as well. I live by it when I was researching tires...
