94 runner with 91 engine..having problems

Ok im looking into buying a 94 4 runner 3.0 v6and they guy who owns it has had some bad luck...bad choice in friends really...old engine got eaten up by bleach that somebody put in his gas tank. enter new engine.. from a 94 4runner or pickup im not sure. has a problem with the cat heating up and melting the interrior and also hesitation problems. He has all the old parts and says that the intake manifolds are not the same that he has 2 hoses that are not connected just hanging there...in my mind this seems like the likely problem but what im trying to figure out is weather or not this could be a residual problem from the earlier contamination..if anybody encounterd the cats heating up as much as they are and causing this problem let me know...he wants 800 bucks for the vehicle and im looking for a toy to go 4 wheelin in up here in alaska

I would say worst case scenario buy a used stock exhaust and switch it out if you buy it. I dont think two hoses not being on would cause that. Sounds like cat is clogged.

Thanks for the input...this guy is convinced that he is gonna have to replace the engine on this thing so im just trying to be more informed than him if i decide to go buy the truck.
