94runner Siezing Please Help!

Hi My mom bought a rebuilt manual v6 3.0 94 runner about a year ago. 2 weeks ago out of the blue the car would not start. Electrical was working but but the engine/ starter was silent. I was able to push start it to my mechanic. He removed an after market security system, and rewired the starter to the engine. I picked up the truck which was running great used it for half an hour and parked. A few hours later when i fired up the engine I noticed the rpms surging in idle, and very aggressively in gear. So much so that if driven continuously it will eventually stall out. When the car starts seizng the check engine light comes on.

I coasted, jerked and siezed my way back to mechanic. After about a day and a lot of testing Wing diagnosed the distributor as the problem. I got him a used one but problem remains. The truck starts fine and runs smoothly for about 30 seconds, the moment the rpms drop there is no spark on the distributor and the check engine light comes on with code 14. At this point in idle the rpms will seize up and down until it knocks the car off.

I saw in another thread that someone else was able to fix there 94runer with a new throttle position sensor. I mentioned this to Wing, who claims he took out and checked each sensor, but claims it did not make a difference.

Please if anyone has any advice for me with these issues it would be greatly appreciated.

Your mechanics name is Wing?...
I do not believe the alarm and surging problem are related. Idle and drivability will be affected if the air tube from the TPS to the throttle body has a leak or a loose clamp. I would start there.
