95 4Runner Factory Amp Question

I was replacing an older stereo in the 4Runner I just bought and I noticed it had a factory amp. The guy who had it before me hacked the connector off and all of the wires are loose now. I was wondering if it would be worth it for me to try to figure out the wiring and hook it up to the new stereo I am installing? If not I will probably just take it out all together. :thanks:

Probably better to just bypass the amp unless you have a really cheap or weak aftermarket stereo. The amps back in those days were probably between 15-30 watts RMS. Which alot of decent aftermarket radios these days are putting out that much.

While I'm not sure of the specs of the factory gear, it's highly unlikely that 17 year old amp can hold a candle to even a cheap modern aftermarket amp. Personally, I wouldn't bother trying to figure out the wiring, and just get a simple, name-brand new amp.
