Hey guys, I have a 95 T4R 3.0 auto 2wd. I installed a re-manufactured trans and I am trying to locate the temp switch for it. All I can find is people telling me that it is near the neutral safety switch but it is not there. I can see on the dash that the indicator is there but I want to make sure that caution light works before I drive the 4runner to work (90 mile round trip). Is it possible that there isnt one installed on this vehicle? Am I missing something? Please help me out. Thanks in advance

The AT uses the same coolant temp sensor as the EFI ECM, which is not the one the dash gauge uses.

Sorry, I misread your post.
The Auto Trans with the 3.0 does have a sensor for AT fluid temp.
Not the same as coolant temp, which was what I was talking about.
The AT uses coolant temp info for shifting purposes.

I don't have my FSM handy to check for the sensor location, I'll try to look later.

Thanks, I've been reading that later model owner have been wondering the same thing. I'm thinking the 2wd auto trans didn't have the option installed. So maybe just the 4wd models had the temp sensor. Just a guess. I drove it to work today and just monitored the engine coolant temp gauge, as that will be a way to know that if the engine coolant is getting hot than so is the tranny fluid. Thanks and let me know if you find anything out. I really appreciate it.
