96BladeRunner Build

Its your rig man do as you want. Get some sliders for it and tell your dad you are putting on new side steps. I sold my running boards pretty fast on local CL. They are super easy to take off and can be put back on if desired, wielding on sliders makes that a little hard though lol But my sliders make great steps also.

Yeah I've been looking at sliders for quite some time. What sliders do you have? Currently I'm looking at 4xinnovations mainly because of their cost. I plan on powder coating them to match my flares as well.

Are those the new TA/KO2 tires? If so how do you like them so far? Notice any difference in MPG's or power after putting on the larger heavier tires?

I don't have sliders yet either, but have been looking. The 4x ones are the cheapest, but they would also be the most expensive ones to install because the legs need to be welded to the plates and gussets, and then the legs to the actual slider, and then finally everything can be welded to the truck. Therefore I am probably going to go with one that is already fully assembled and only needs to be welded to the truck like the BAMF sliders. I really like the look of the kickout on a slider too personally.

So far I am loving the tires. I like how the new design kind of gave it that mud-terrain look. As for MPG I have noticed a slight decrease but nothing to make me regret my decision. They were expensive but totally worth it IMO.

Thanks for the slider information. I honestly had not clue they come unwelded. Guess ill have to keep looking

That's good to hear. Those are the tires I want to go with once my current tires wear out. I've got BFG Rugged Terrain's in 265/70/16 and they are great tires, I just wish they were a size bigger. They aren't the best in the rain, but they do well off road and are wearing super well. I've got 25k miles on them and they still look like almost new.

The 4X ones are a good option if you are welding yourself or know someone who can do it for cheap/free, but in the end it will probably cost the same for a fully assembled one if you don't have a hook up.

I have Trial Gear sliders and went with the DOM steel tube option i am very happy with them. Personally i rattle canned mine flat black instead of powder coating. They will get scratched up even you dont wheel much or rock crawl. So rattle can is cheaper and easier to touch up those scratches.

Well I havent posted here in a while and ive been meaning to do so. I haven't really done a lot to the BladeRunner due to my lack of money because im paying for college which sucks but I have the 4runner looking pretty good if you ask me and ive done most of the major stuff. I did however, get weather tech mats as a graduation gift from my parents. I cant say how much I love these mats, ive wanted some for so long and they work amazing. They are totally worth the money. Due to my lack of funds most of the mods will be little ones here and there but I'm okay with that. I like how she looks rn and the little things will just spice it up a little more.

Here are the mats:

Labor day I plan on addressing the rust and will be sanding and painting the frame, so I plan on having some pics up of the before and after results next week

Alright so I figured I should update this. Nothing much has been done to it for a long time mainly due to having a gf and college which kills any modification budget I have. I've just been driving it a lot and just enjoying it as much as I can. Since my last post I finally broke the 250,000 milestone and it made my day and made my dad's day too to see it reach that many miles.I decided with it hitting 250k and it turning 20 years old I'd buy it some birthday gifts to celebrate!

p.s. sorry in advance for the crappy cellphone pics

Glad I got to capture it at 249,999 and 250,000. Thank you stoplights!! (never thought I'd say that)

Oh I also forgot to add that I plan on adding 99-02 headlights, JDM clear corners as well from ryhi and LED's for the entire interior of the car :naughty:

The best thing about my parents being the original owners is that they've kept all of the records for the 4runner since 1996! I was so stoked when my mom handed me all of the records, so I decided to organize them all into a binder.

All of the records are in chronological order from the delivery check sheet all the way up to my recent oil change. Oh and each record is in its own page protector.

They even had the owners manual case from the dealership in Kansas

So a lot has happened since my last post....I had a cv boot rip on my passenger side so I just replaced the whole thing. I was also having starter problems so I just figured I'd replace the whole thing as its 20 years and it's done me and my family well.

I recently required a new (to me) billet grille from a local forum member and also added my filler panel LED lights from a forum member on here too. After having the parts sitting in my garage I finally installed it. I still have to wire the lights and once I get the harness for it I will provide with some night shots!

The lights were black when I got them and I don't like the black look at all on my 4runner so I took it to a local professional paint shop and they did a fantastic job matching it to the desert dune!

I like the new front end and it looks clean which is what I'm aiming for. I wanted it to look simple but definitely stand out from all of the others.

Ok, I really like the lights under the headlights! How bright are they, and I know you said you got them from another guy on here, but do you know of any place I could get some?

Really like what you have done because I'm looking to doing something very similar to what you have done on yours on mine!

Um they are pretty bright from the pics I have seen. If you have an instagram I can tag you in the pic of the night shots because mine aren't wired up yet unfortunately. The brand for the lights are Kawell and you can buy them on amazon. They are $20 per light.

Thanks! I really like the clean look and I just want it to be tastefully modded in a simple kind of way (if ya catch my drift) haha

Do you have a link to the led filler panels? I couldn't find them on Amazon. Thanks,

Local nothing. Don't be humble, be proud!

That billet grill is 8 or 9 years old, has survived 2 previous vehicles (one crashed [head on] and the other one sold) and then has traveled hundreds of miles to its new home.

You've got one great looking 4Runner here. Keep up the good work!
