Hey everyone!
I have recently took on making my own custom headlights and so far I've got about halfway there but I'm running into a wiring issue. The harness seems to be very straight forward but not at the same time. Let me explain.
Long story short.
- I bought new OEM replacement headlights
- Took the lenses off (Glass on front)
- Installed 2x Rigid Cubes pairs (DOT Legal Fogs and Radiance cubes)
- I Combined the Ground (Black) wires and started by plugging them into what I thought was the ground on the headlight harness
- I put the Hot (Red) wire from the street Legal Fog into the Low Beam slot
- I put the Hot (Red) from the Radiance into the High Beam Slot
- When I turn on the Low Beams both of the DOT Cubes light up as they should
- When I turn the High Beam on the DOT Cubes Strobe and the Radiance Cubes don't Turn on.
- Next I moved the ground from the headlight wire harness to my BlueSea Fuse Box (Unified ground).
-Now DOT Cubes (Low Beams) Don't Strobe, but still no High Beams.
I thought the Light Bulbs for my year 4runner were H4?
I have used a Multimeter to determine where the voltage was on the harness, can't find a usable diagram at the dealer or online.
It Appears that the two headlights are linked together somehow?
To my best knowledge, the relay is a combine hi/low beam single relay that is simply an on off switch. Not like most 4 post relays that come with modern aftermarket upgrades.
So my question is,
1 Has anyone tried what I am doing with their 4runner?
2 Does anyone have a Headlight wire Diagram for 97 4Runner no DRL?
3) Any other helpful thoughts or questions feel free!
