97 5spd transmission wiring?

Well, I've been digging into my new to me 97 a little each night after work. Been taking care of items left unattended by the PO. Reverse lights didn't work and after checking the fuses and replacing the bulbs, still a no go. searched the forum and google and found that the switch on the transmission was broke and no wire going to it. I found a female end on the other side of the transmission running with another wire that connects to that side, but it wont reach to the reverse light switch plugin. Is it possible that when the PO had the clutch replaced, they hooked the harness up on the wrong side of the transmission? Does anyone have a drawing of how the wiring harnes is supposed to be ran?

Well, $47 dollars later and a new reverse light switch, and as I thought, the harness was ran to the wrong side of the transmission, I now have reverse lights. Now time to figure out why 4hi doesn't work, last thing to get working on it.

Does 4Lo work?

Does 4Lo work?

Yes, 4Lo works fine, but when shifted into 4Hi, I get no dash light or engagement.

Have you checked the wires on both sides of the transfer case?

just went out and drove it for the first time since swapping sides with the wiring harness earlier today, and to my surprise, 4Hi and 4Lo work as they should! Time to hit the woods!
