97 Limited rear end locking up help

Looking to buy a 97 limited 2wd, first timer here. Owner says rear end locked up on him said maybe a wheel bearing. Any advice, should I beware, what should I look for? Its a good buy I think, 203k looks clean no rust probably get it for just over 2k. Help!

It's almost 20 yrs old with over 200 K on it and a potentially expensive problem. Run away.

Personally I would buy it, although the price is a little high. A complete rear axle can be had for around $200-$400, bolt it in and go. If it was 4WD it's a no brainer, but being a 2WD isn't so bad if you don't need to go offroad.
