97 SR5 need to replace my exhaust ideas?

Hey all,
I am looking to change my TRD exhaust for some a touch more aggressive sounding... kinda throaty.... nothing that while under power will wake the neigbhors.

I heard a runner on the road today that had the sound i was looking for.. but i was not able to get any info on it.

This will be a cat back install... I've scoured YT and heard a lot of diffrent sounding systems... any ideas? send them my way

Mine has a pretty nice and deep sound. I believe I have a JBA exhaust.

Get a flowmaster but be sure to add a Tundra Resonance silencer.

Does that make it throatier? or Obnoxious? Never heard of it and interested.

What it does is eliminate the DRONE while retaining the throaty sound.

The Tundra resonance silencer is a stock part but you can install a used one like I did. Most muffler shops just throw them away. Weld it directly behind the muffler. The nice cat back exhausts like Borla come with a similar part welded in line.

I really like mine. A tad loud IMO but will probably be adding a silencer in the warmer season. I have a Magnaflow muffler with a 20" x 4" tail pipe. I will have to post a video of it. I have my cat but I also have bigger headers.

NO YEARs "have it" because 4Runners were never designed to have a deep high flow exhaust.

Tundras have it, at least the V8 ones do.

The Tunrda resonance silencer mod is something I owe to my mechanic after I complained about the drone. He welded in the "factory resonance silencer" just behind the muffler (about 1") and WOW it still sounds awesome and deep but without the HWY drone.

The downsides are you will have to find one at a junkyard or muffler shop. I have a used one, there is no need for it to be new.

Yes I was talking about what Tundra generations have it not 4runners.

Do you know what the pipe diameter of the resonance silencer is? and what segment of the OE exhaust is it located in?

My mechanic picked it out of a junk pile at him shop.

I assume it is the generation from about 2000. Not the newer gen.

I think it sounds badass AND the HYW drone is seriously reduced.

I have run all these setups:
* stock
* flowmaster with no Tundra part
* stock again due HWY drone
* Flowmaster with the Tundra resonance silencer (since 2007)

Video #1 – Hill climb through soft silt.
The road is very steep and the ground is 4-8” of soft silt. I had to turn on the locker and then we went up with no problems.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.... sorry for the late replies.. i like the way the runner sounds in the first video. sort of what i have been looking at... I'm going to keep on looking but i think what i have here is a pretty good start.
