97 SR5 rear window switch mod

I have a 97 runner. i hate having to turn my key on and go up to the front of it while im in the rear to roll down my window. as yall know the 97's didnt come with the keyless button for the window.

Solution-
Wire a switch i got from junkyard in the back tailgate with constant power so i can roll it down while im back there (sleeping, working etc...)

Im starting this thread asking for help if any of yall have done it before. If not then it will be the first and ill take step my step pics as i go to help anyone else in here.

Any input would be great! also, if yall know how to mod a keyless from older ones to work on this ill send you a cake! seriously, ill box up a cake and send it if you can figure out how to make the newer remotes work with my stock keyless sytem and have the window button functional!

I have done it. Very easy.

Take a switch (3 way) and mount it to the rear trim panel. I used a window down switch from a 96 4runner. Cut a rectangular hole and install switch. I tapped the wire coming from the door lock to control my window.

Green with red stripe and ground causes the window to go up.

Green with yellow stripe and ground causes the window to go down.

White with black stripe is the ground.

All these wire are located right at the ECU on the rear door. easy.

This work all the time but there is a 3 second delay from the time you push the button till the window starts moving.

did you know that if you just insert the key into the tailgate, turn it and hold, and you can roll up and down that window?

Try doing that from the inside the cargo area...

Thanks Singtoe! Im going to buy the switch from the junk yard this weekend and gonna put it in. Along with some LED mods and taking all my trim and runner boards off! woo hoo!
