97 T4R 4x4 190k Automatic engine vibration at idle in gear

The vibration comes and goes while sitting at a stop light while in gear. Runs and idles great. Feels like a motor mount maybe but wouldn't I feel this when driving as well? What does dealer charge for replacing a motor mount if it's bad?

Same thing just started happening to me, Auto w/ 143k. Cleaned the throttle body and the IAC, still happens. Like you said, it idles fine besides the point. No idea what this could be.
 
No CEL. I notice it more when it's cold but it's still there when it warms up. What should the idle be at while in gear with the brake on? I haven't cleaned my IAC but I did do my throttle body. I also saw on another post that it could be a lose or bad tranny mount.
 
I'm now thinking it's a mount too, it's just weird that it does it closer when the engine is up to temperature though.
 
I cleaned my IAC valve yesterday even though my idle is fine. It wasn't that dirty but that stupid o-ring type gasket wouldn't fit back in the recessed area so I just used sealant and it works fine. Vibration still there. It seems like it takes a few seconds of sitting at a stop light before you start feeling it. Put it in neutral and it stops. It pulses through the entire truck it feels like.

Sometimes mine shuts off during Neutral, but sometimes it's still there. As soon as I touch the gas it goes away. Anyone else have any ideas of what this can be? Might just have to rack it soon and look under to see where it's at.
 
My plugs are only a few years old, maybe 15-20k on them or so. I think I might hoist this thing at work and go under with a stethoscope and find the problem.
 
Sorry to resurrect a 3 week old thread, but any solutions with the vibration issues at idle? I have the same thing going on.
 
I cleaned my IAC and put a new gasket on it and the throttle body and it's not as bad as it used to be. I also had a new muffler put on at the same time as mine had a hole in it. Sometimes I can still feel a resonating vibration from the gas peddle while driving.
 
Just found this thread while searching for something I posted on a long time ago and remembered I never replied to this. It was my noisy alternator that was causing the humming. Replaced with an OEM one and that fixed it all.
 
Is everyone with the vibration/shaking issue watching their rpm closely? I've experienced several 3rd gen's (5VZ-FE' Auto's) that get the vibes when the rpm is really low while idling. IF the rpm is 520....it'll shake. If it's 650 or higher, it won't.


Nothing really wrong. Engine just can't purr real smooth when it's turning over that slowly.

Just did a search, and this is my EXACT problem. Low rumbles at red lights, only kicks in when at full operating temp. Sometimes in neutral, most times it doesn't, only in drive. Feels like it might be the drive shaft, or tranny, but does that even make sense? I have no CEL at the moment.

This is AFTER I replaced:

-new plugs, wires, O2 sensors (this cleared CEL which I thought was the initial rumble problem), new fuel filter and big MAF cleaning.

I caved in and took it to my local shop, they charged me an hours labour for taking off a rusted heat shield on the manifold and said that was the problem. After driving 100 metres the rumble came back. Needless to say, I was/am very angry with the shop.

Any advice on this appreciated. This is the last step to having a really sweet ride, as everything else is working excellent (knock wood)

Rangeroad, do you have any other symptoms such as a CEL?

I have the same issue and believe it is due to the idle air controller, a very well known issue on these higher mileage trucks.

My thoughts exactly. It seems to sit and rumble at 600 but when I tap it up to 675-700 the shake goes away.

I had a CEL for upstream o2 sensor, I got a deal for both and replaced both sensors. That cleared the CEL. I thought that was the culprit for the rumble/vibration, and then went and did the plugs, wires, fuel filter.

rpms are 600-700 (hot), and not wandering.
