I have a 97 toyota 4runner 4x4 3.4v6 208000 miles i just put a k&n intake system in it ansd was thinking about putting a x3 performance chip in it and was thinking about supercharging it... just wondering if good idea or do i need to upgrade the engine because of extra hp and heat

K&N intake and the chip are worthless. Return them and put the money toward the supercharger.

What do you mean by upgrade the engine? All you really need to do is compression test it. If compression is still good, go ahead and boost it.

Sounds like what you need are some "Type-R" stickers to really boost the performance on the top end. Make sure you put one on everything that needs to be better.
Examples:
Put it on the exterior = Bam sexiest 4Runner EVER
Put it over the Toyota Symbol on the engine = Bam 500 bhp!
Put it on the exhaust = Bam the sticker's on fire = You have a hot ride!

I hope this helps, and if it doesn't you need pin stripes... :jump:

K & N CAI is cool but the chip is worthless and many times will cause your CEL to go on. Supercharger is cool as long as you have the bank.

It is not a worthless intake, it has been dyno proven. Its just overpriced and has way too much oil on the filter.
